Concept art, I'm sorry I couldn't avoid the glare:

Wow, I love this design! Strangely enough though, it's eeriely similar to the mini-lounge (like this, mainly for breakfast and otherwise) over at the Dolphin that I saw for the first time a couple weeks back. Funny enough, if you get that lounge from the Dolphin, it would almost seem like a perfect fit at the Contemporary!

Great update!

Thanks for the pictures it's good to see the resort getting modernized. I believe the the Steak House is becoming the new Grab & Go? What's happening to Chief Mickey's? That's the only place that now doesn't really fit the new design of the resort. Surely it will get a new design or be moved to a different resort? I would like to see it shifted to a larger new venue in DTD.

No idea what will happen with Chef Mickey's, maybe an expansion might be in the works. I was there a few weeks back, with both Concourse AND Mickey's being hugely full, and believe me, they NEED an expansion. If they do move to DTD, that would be really ironic cause that's where Chef Mickey's started in the first place. I even still have one of those red cups from the original one actually, haha. (That one and a blue cup from Donald's ice cream shop if anyone remembers it)

Well I for one can't imagine that a grab and go would need as much room as the Concourse provides. Maybe they'll cut into half and one half will be for the new grab and go and the other half will give Chef Mickey's an expansion? :shrug:I am very concerned about one thing....who now serves the stickey mickey? If ya'll say no one there will be issues!

From what I understand, Chef Mickey's is getting no expansion as has been rumored. It will probably only get minor modifications to just minimally jive with the new decor and get the old purple and turquoise scheme out. It hasn't sounded like it is a big priority, though. As far as I am aware, the new counter-service will take up all of the former steakhouse area. I think they'll probably need that space once the North Garden Something opens. This is pure speculation, but what I can see happening eventually down the line is closing Outer Rim to expand Chef Mickey's now that there are a full three lounges throughout the Resort. Ideally, they would just move Chef Mickey's back to its former location at the Marketplace, where Rainforest Cafe is now. One, I really don't think we need Rainforest Cafe there. Two, I don't think Chef Mickey's would lose any business, being right next to the bus stop. Three, it would probably actually boost business somewhat at the surrounding shops during the relatively quiet hours of the morning. And four, finally, if management is concerned about removing Chef Mickey's from the Monorail and losing business because of it, then that is just a good reason to expand the Monorail to Downtown Disney and plop one of the stations ddown right there where the buses are next to Chef Mickey's!

Thanks for the excellent photos!

We're not much for bars either, but we did check out the cool Rix Lounge at Coronado Springs and enjoyed at drink at the wonderful Victoria Falls Lounge at AKL, so I can see us stopping in the Wave bar for a beverage one evening. It looks like a fun restaurant/bar.

Wow thanks for the amazing pictures :D. I love the one how you can see Epcot in a distance. The DVC pictures look interesting. And the Wave looks nice. :)
I always go to Chef Mickey's for breakfast. The last time I was there we were in this new area and we were not sure if it was new or not. So we asked a CM about it and he said it used to be a smoking area (which they expanded Chef Mickey's) and he was talking about all the new things coming to the Contemporary.

It would be nice to see it moved back to DTD as it really doesn't fit in with the quality of the resort in the look of it or the fact it is aimed at children/familys and the rest of the resort is not aimed at them. Maybe it could fit into part of the Virgin store when they move out.
