Contemporary Resort Magic Kingdom View questions...

Zummi Gummi

Pioneering the Universe Within!
We decided we want to splurge for our Easter week trip this year, and stay at the Contemporary, Magic Kingdom View. This is something we've never done before, but we've decided it's time to treat ourselves a little.

My question is this...are all Magic Kingdom view rooms created equally? Is there something specific I should request to get the best view of the MK? Or do all of the rooms noted as "MK View" provide a decent view?

Any and all help is appreciated!!

Here is my view from room #4743. We took the Ferry back to the MK Monorail station and then the Monorail back to the hotel. It was really cool that we got on the Ferry as the Electrical Parade started and got to see it from the water, then we got to see Wishes from our balcony.
By far, this was the most Magical vacation ever!!!
Have a wonderful time and hope this info helps! :animwink:

I'm curious. How much did that room set you back a night?

I'm not a big fan of the "Magic Kingdom view" at the Contemporary Resort.

It's really more like the "Parking Lot view"
You can see the castle from there, and also Astro orbiter and the top of Space Mountain, but thats about it. The fire works can also be seen from that view also but it not nearly as nice as being there. The MK view is more expensive also.

My wife and I enjoy the Bay Lake view much better.
It's a little cheaper, you can watch the mouse boats and skiers and parasailing. You get a great view of some of the other resorts, the Contemporary swimming pools, and my favorite parade, the Electrical Water Pagent.

I'm more of a nature Lover so I guess Id rather look out of my balcony at a beautiful lake than a parking lot.

But that's just me.
To each his own.

I haven't stayed at the Contemporary many times but I would think in regards to the Magic Kingdom view there's not too much difference from room to room on that side of the hotel. On our first night when we stayed at the Contemporary we had a Bay Lake view. It was very nice & we could even see the Electrical Water Pagent. The next day we changed rooms & had a Magic Kingdom view for the rest of our stay. We could see the Wishes fireworks from our room. Did you know that if you tune the TV to channel 19 (I think- can't remember exactly which channel) you can hear the music that accomanies the fireworks. Also, We could see the Electrical Water Pagent but not as close up as the Bay Lake view. It's wonderful relaxing late at night out on the balcony and watching the castle changing colors. A couple of times I woke up in the middle of the night. Like a kid looking for Santa I peeked out thru the curtains to look at the Magic Kingdom, just to feel the magic.:)

If you look at Epcot.nut's 2nd photo that is pretty much the view from most of the rooms on that side of the Contemporary. If you have always dreamed of looking out your window and having that view (Even more beautiful at night) then I think its worth at least a one time splurg.

As a huge Disney fan I think everyone should have this view once in their life. And if money is really burning a hole in your pocket and its the ULTIMATE splurg go for the Presidential Suite!

Ok maybe just concierge level.:animwink:

I've got the MK view room booked Nov.30 - Dec.9 at $444/night. I tried to get the AP discount at 8:30 a.m. the day it was released but it was already sold out. I will continue to try to get the discount in case there are any cancellations right up until the moment I check in. :animwink: This will be our first stay outside of Pop Century. It's my dream. I'm soooo excited and anxious!!!

I know exactly how you feel. This will be my first stay in a couple of years at a resort other than Pop. Elizabeth from Kingdom Konsultants has booked it for us, and she's going to try and get the AP rate if/when it comes out. I'm already excited and it's like 8 months away!

I stayed at the Contemporary MK view on the 10th Floor last year Labor Day weekend. From what I could tell all the views are the same. However, I'd request a room on one of the higher floors. The view of the lagoon and the other hotels seems better the higher up you are I've heard some people complain that the noise from Chef Mickey's can be too much from the lower floors. However, I noticed the moment we closed the door we couldn't hear any noise from the hallway. It's definitely a once in a lifetime kind of experience.

I tend to agree with the poster that like the bay lake view more... the only thing you want remember is higher is better for the views... of course higher get more expensive as you get into the higher end rooms. In the end it wont make a difference, the contemporary is the best on to splurge on it has the biggest rooms of the three monorail resorts.

Hey! The room was over $400 for the night. I can't remember exactly. I think I have blocked it from my memory.

The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept on including at home. The room was quiet even though they were doing construction on our side of the hotel. I never heard any of it.

I don't care how great the fireworks are in the park. I got to watch them from my room with a beer, etc, and wearing not much of anything. :D
The balcony is made so you can't see the other folks around you.

I didn't notice the parking lot much at all - I was too busy staring off into Magic Kingdom. You are going to love this vacation!

I use to stay in the Contemporary Magic Kingdom View rooms all the time, before the rooms got so outrageously expensive. I don't think it matters which room you're in, the view is pretty much the same. And yes, you do look at the parking lot, but you also get a wonderful view of the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian, that you can't get anywhere else. I'm not sure if it still looks this way, but right in the middle of the parking lot where the trees are, the foliage use to be made up to look like a Mickey Mouse watch. And the trees in the middle look like the push-up popsicles (remember creamsicles). When my daughters were little we called them popsicle trees, that's where my daughters name on this website came from, Popsicletrees.
Also, there's nothing like walking out of your room and seeing the action taking place on the 4th floor.
My mothers 78th birthday is in Dec. '08, and I'm taking her to WDW and staying in the tower again, just for her.
Enjoy your trip!

My wife and I stayed 14th floor MK view for our honeymoon. We thought it was worth every penny. I agree completely that every MK fan should try it at least once, because it really was THAT magical, to be that close and have that view every day of our vacation.

I think if it is an option, go for it, and get as high a floor as you can. You'll love it!
