Still fail to see how people were ok with Electric Umbrella but some how appalled by the name Connections
It's just funny to have the names be an alliteration- people will confuse them all the time, I'm sure.
Still fail to see how people were ok with Electric Umbrella but some how appalled by the name Connections
Electric Umbrella was just whimsical...and when it opened it had more decor to reinforce the theme... No, it was not a great restaurant...but I never saw any marketing where Disney was breathlessly exclaiming how inventive and amazing it is... That is sort of the difference.Still fail to see how people were ok with Electric Umbrella but some how appalled by the name Connections
You worded this perfectly.Electric Umbrella was just whimsical...and when it opened it had more decor to reinforce the theme... No, it was not a great restaurant...but I never saw any marketing where Disney was breathlessly exclaiming how inventive and amazing it is... That is sort of the difference.
We have this ambitious and odd plan for the central spine...They demo and destroy the central core, and then value engineer it down to nothing....I think that is the biggest problem....
Then they produce lots of ridiculous word-salad marketing about the normal necessary refurbishments they are doing....
Why doesn't "The Zach" show some images of the finalized art and plans for Journey Of Water... Or the new interactive fountain at Dreamer's Point... Instead of a 300 word post about the flooring material or the type of porcelain used for the toilets....
They are both opening during Spring...Opening spring, so before GotG
PERFECT - Lets give it a tropical theme, put it in the World Showcase someplace and call it, "Confusions Cay"Maybe they can open a bar there and call it "Confusion".
Restaurants need signage...it's not like they are trying to get people to book a trip over this. Something posted to an Imagineer's IG profile has a niche following and while we may jest, I actually think it is fun that he shares details on how they make these decisions on details.Wow... a marquee... the funjineers are really upping their game here

Creations Gift Shop
Connections Cafe
Let's rename the Starbucks bakery, "Caffeinations". "Club Cool" can stay as is.
It needs to be able to really roll off the tongue....
Crea-tions....
Connec-tions...
So I propose - Cafe-tions...
I mean, I don't really mind the alliteration. You buy creations, and connect with family/friends when you eat. It's pretty simple to keep straight. Also, the letter C is literally in the center of the word EPCOT, so I appreciate the clever letter play. Maybe that's the ghost of english major past haunting me, but I appreciate the motif.
Perhaps it's a way to say..Hey if your lost will will meet at Connections..It's the only way to get.....Connected...Still fail to see how people were ok with Electric Umbrella but some how appalled by the name Connections
It's not really that interesting, and completely not newsworthy. If there were an account during the construction of TOT and they were showing the levels of theming including cracked tiles, broken fountain and quality detail notes, it would be appreciated as a creative detail rather than...it's a sign and we used the same font as the park you loved, that we just tore down....LOLRestaurants need signage...it's not like they are trying to get people to book a trip over this. I may not agree with the actual decisions they make in some cases, but it is still cool that they share this information. Imagine if Imagineers's had such a IG account set up when they were building Tower of Terror. We'd be losing our minds over cracked tiles, a deep dive into making a room dusty, and a broken fountain.
I really don't think that's the point. A Behind The Magic tweet should share info about that magic you're pointing. No, tile selections and paint colors aren't acceptable topics. Tell us what's going on in GotG with track, cars, scenes. Use some of Walt's films for examples.Restaurants need signage...it's not like they are trying to get people to book a trip over this. That's because those elements contribute something distinct to a unique experience. Things that do that are worthy of some consideration and notice, which is why we notice them. There's an artfulness to the way the Tower of Terror was distressed that's unlike what we encounter in most of the world we move through.I may not agree with the actual decisions they make in some cases, but it is still cool that they share this information.
