Confusing SSE News video!

Watch this video, after Ken Cornelius talks, and we see a shot of Spaceship Earth, we see the SSE cars moving forward (upwards, I think) in a tunnel of what appear to be brand-new flashing blue lights akin to what the old tunnel effects that were there before the Matrix tunnel. The touch screens are on the blue dot "screensaver" type image.

WHERE (or when?) IS THIS?!?!?

I see what Servo is saying. About 3/4 of the way through the video you see the cars with the touch screens and the old neon/light-tube things that were there before the Matrix tunnel.

Good question, Servo. Perhaps that was video taken before the Matrix effect was completed? But the strange thing is it looks like there are people in those ride vehicles...

hmm.

The better question is this: what is meant by "Siemens has about 100 researchers that are using modern technology found in Spaceship Earth to try to figure out ways to preserve the environment." Huh? What inside SSE is going to be useful for preserving the environment?

I see it as well, thats kind of stange, the website is annoying as you can't watch the video again without watching the entire thing. Maybe when that footage was shot the neon lights were still installed and then later in development it was decided to add the matrix effect?

Wow......they should have just kept the neon tunnel. Basically they modified various elements from the original neon tunnel, and put it in various shades of blue.

I have no doubt all of that is still there and the matrix project screen is simply placed on top of it. :brick:

As for the park guests.....what do they mean what the future will be like in 15-20 years? The 60s ended well over 30 years ago? :D

Again, the create your future is a nice upbeat way to look at tomorrow. It does educate us i.e. smart cards, robots, etc it certainly entertains us....does it inspire? Possibly, especially since project tomorrow is like MiniCommuniCore 2.0 showing all sorts of fun and interactive things from various future world elements i.e. health, enenrgy, transporation, etc

I think project tomorrow is a great way to show not how Epcot is different from EPCOT Center, but how EPCOT Center 2.0 is still relevant....entertain, inform, inspire by using fun and creative things to see and do. Edutainment in the 21st century.

I feel bad for the guest who thought it would be more dramatic.

I still don't see how hard it would be for them to add a program that allows guests to have their screen off for the rest of the ride?

Then they can install some stars and fiber optics throughout the descent and give those people something to look at.

i see what you are talking about....

i think i was more puzzled by the "Y" hat guy that they interviewed.... why him? he gave the worst interview. there is no way that was the best one they got all day besides the girl.

that's because half the other guests they interviewed gave them a strange look and said "you mean there's a ride inside the golf ball?" we just thought it was empty...actually if you excuse us, we cant find anything to do here and we're going to go back to Disney World and ride the spiderman ride. :lookaroun

It's so weird. It doesn't even really LOOK like the old Matrix tunnel that much. Strange!

(You can rewind the video using that button before "play" and right click, zoom, and select full screen to see it in full screen.)

Hmm.... a test mock up? Test runs with the old tunnel in place (and a highly sensitive camera)? The old tunnel with the liquid neon not running?

can't spot it in that video ?

Because they show it for less than 2 seconds. I don't see why everyone is still getting in a huff. They clearly aren't done with the effects yet but were preasured by the public to get it open anyway.

I'm not in a huff. I just want to know WHERE they (have or had) those blue lights in a section where you are going UP and the touch screens are ON.

Hm. It looks like its on the ascent. You're definitely moving forward and upward, not backward and down in that video. Perhaps its new lighting effects that have just been revealed that weren't on before? Either way, I hope it stays, whereever its at. Its pretty neat!

Also, a few other things I noticed about the video:

-Anyone catch the background music they had? Sounded like "We've Just Begun to Dream!" :sohappy:

-And since when did only "eight million people" visit WDW in a year? Perhaps eight million visit Animal Kingdom each year, but I think annual attendence for WDW would be closer to 45-50 million a year, not eight. C'mon people, do your research! :hammer:

Since Steve Jobs in a very Important/large share holder with Disney, next time maybe he should be a little more involved in a massive computerized undertaking like the SSE renovation. This isnt an indictment on the Windows software that may have been used, but if you have a resouce like him on board, maybe you should at least consult him. Were going in August, I hope there at least a decent ride there when we go.

It looks like it's right at the beginning of the ascent. If you pause that youtube video, you can see that screen that tells you your time machine will rotate backwards, which is right around the point where you get your picture taken.

The Matrix effect would be a heck of a lot cooler if it covered the ENTIRE tunnel, not just 2/3 of it. Thought that was kinda...lame.
