Pre-Trip Confirmations made, so here we go again.....

I just got back from my 'short trip w/ limited Disney' report a few weeks ago. I visited my daughter while my wife stayed back in PA. The wife is conserving some vacation time for one more FL trip. A review of the airfare found that we could pay less than $120 per ticket if I use some reward points. We figured that this will be the last FL trip until August or September since our daughter would be moving back home for the summer (off because she works for a school district). So we're going to fly out on a Friday morning in mid-May, and return home on Tuesday A.M. My daughter already booked our park reservations although she's having trouble landing a Saturday. As it gets closer we'll keep looking given the new Disney policy of releasing tickets 48 hrs prior if the reservation doesn't have a purchased ticket for that day. I'll keep everyone posted and log a bunch of pics.

When we got off the PeopleMover, you can see the path we took. We initially stopped to see what ice cream/Dole whip flavors they had. I was really hoping for the berry/lemon combo that they had months ago, but the new flavor wasn't something I preferred. So we continued on our way. When we stopped by the Speedway to watch the cars next to the Teacups, I smelled cigarette smoke. I know that there are no smoking areas anywhere in the parks anymore. I noticed a woman who was leaning over the fence cupping a cigarette in her hand. Really ? You can't wait until you get out of the park ? Some people just do what they want, when they want.

Wait times were pretty high so we decided to check out Mickey's PhilharMagic. It didn't look too bad, but with the social distancing they were only allowing a certain amount of people in which really made the line crawl and then stop for 10 minutes. But we do love this show, and we figured it was worth the wait.

As is now commonplace with the Haunted Mansion the queue always snakes back down the street. They did this in order to practice social distancing and not having the line move so close together when you get closer to the Mansion. I miss the little outside attractions that they have. Also, since some of them are interactive, I assume that's why they shut down that area too.

We need time for things to happen.

Obviously no one is a fan of lines snaking all over the place, but I did appreciate and enjoy the new vantage point which provides those awesome river and river boat views and accompanying pictures! Looks like you got yourself a nice shot yourself!

The day was soon coming to a close. The 'last day blues' were starting to settle in. Reflecting back on the long weekend, it was a great trip. The parks were opened up more. The mask mandate was severely reduced during our visit. We still had a little more time before the day came to an official close.

We love the window displays on Main Street. The decorators do a fantastic job, but I did a poor job of taking my fathead reflection in some of the shots. 🤪 This is it. The final exit, on the final day, from the final park. As I said it was an eventful trip...brunch at Art Smith's, first time breakfast at The Wave, mask mandate lifted, we spent five days with my daughter, and I saw my first Florida gator at Lake Kissimmee.
We were leaving the park and going to find a pet-friendly restaurant where we could have dinner.

Frontier check in was actually very well organized. They had enough agents, which is rare, so the line kept moving at a steady pace. However, when making our way to TSA my jaw dropped. Luckily my wife saw on Facebook before our trip that people were missing flights in Orlando because the security check was almost two hours. We gave ourselves 2 1/2 hours. The line stretched to places in the airport that we have never been. First time we saw the Chic Fil A in the Orlando airport. Didn't know there was one there.

Back to one of the worst airports in the US....PHL. Dirtiest bathrooms in any airport I've ever been to. Cruddy parking garages. Nasty people. I once turned in a ticket that I found on the ground to an airport employee that someone lost for an upcoming flight. She said to me in that heavy Philly accent, "I'll show you what I'm gonna do wit dis." And she proceeded to walk to a garbage can and drop it in. Left me sick and speechless. Look at the pic of the 'social distancing' at the baggage claim. At least most were wearing masks. We're not at the happiest place on earth anymore....

So there you have it. May 2021 trip with the wife and daughter. Next trip in September we're hoping that our two boys will choose to join us. They're both big fans of Horror Nights at Universal so I think they'll come down with us if we go there. Lots of things have changed since we returned home from this trip. Disney fireworks started again. Mask restrictions were lifted even more. Many additional CM's have been brought back which I hope improves the quality of the Disney experience because, quite honestly, it hasn't been the same through the pandemic. I'm hoping the parades and shows are the next events to open up. I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable trip who are visiting this summer. I look forward to all of your trip reports. It's coming back ! And we're all very excited to a Magical return.
