This day was probably my favorite day of the whole trip!
MAGIC KINGDOM DAY! However, it wasn't short of any family vacation drama!
It was pretty chilly when we woke up! Shorts and pool the day before and now pants and jackets! My husband, however, didn't feel the need to wear or bring a jacket. We once again told my parents a time to meet us at the lobby and they texted us to tell us they were there about 30 minutes before that time. I figured they would grab whatever snack they wanted for breakfast, use the restroom and be ready when we got there, but I was wrong on all accounts! Josh asked, "What are we waiting on?" Yeah, they were still wondering around the food court trying to decide what to get. Then had to sit and eat. Thoughts of bus and bag check lines running though my mind.....
This was followed by "What have they been doing the last 30 minutes?" Everyone of course had to use the restroom after they ate while Josh sat in the lobby pouting about still waiting. THEN everyone had to bundle back up....still pouting! Once we got to the bus stop there were already 2 scooters loading the bus so we had to wait for the next one. "Never again!" Yeah, I was beginning to see that vacationing with the in-laws was starting to get to Josh!
FINALLY we were on our way! Today was a Christmas party day so MK would close to regular park guests at 6pm. Our plan was to stay the whole time and then make our way over to our dinner reservation.
Nothing was bothering these two!
On our walk in, I ran into my 3 coworkers who were there together. I know they were here the same week, but in all of WDW, I didn't think I'd literally run into them! They are annual pass holders and their significant others do not like to come, so they come together.
Once we got to the entrance there was a sea of people. My mom and I waited in bag check and it took forever! Once we got through, we started walking in and I realized my parents weren't with us. I looked back and they haven't even budged. No idea what they were doing, but once again we were waiting. I won't go into every incident of this but just know this happened so often. We were always waiting. Now don't get me wrong, I know my parents are getting slower as they get older and I fully planned on going at a slower pace. That wasn't the part that was irritating. It was when they had ample time to get things together and ready to go, but they'd wait until it was time to start moving to get stuff together or whatever it was they needed to do. Then my dad would stress so much if we walked 5 feet from him. But anyway, lets get on with our day! Shall we?
I couldn't get a 7DMT fastpass for today so our game plan was to rope drop it. We made our way to the castle and gathered with the rest of the herd going that way.
As we lined up, my mom says she needs to use the restroom.
Ok, this wasn't happening. I decided to point her in the right direction and told her where to meet us. My dad wasn't happy with this plan and was a complete ball of nerves.
We get all the way there and then we hear the dreaded announcement that the ride is down and not sure when it would be back up!
Grrrr...we decided to wait it out, at least until my mom arrived. Finally, she did and my dad breathed a sigh of relief. Then Cam decided he need to go use the restroom, so Josh took him while we continued to wait until they got back. Wait it out or move on? I made the decision to move on and glad I did because it was down for about an hour. We never got to ride it this day, but I had a fastpass for later in the week. I was sad Maci wouldn't get a chance to ride it though.
We took a ride on a clam shell and then waited to meet Ariel, live and in person!
They loved posing for pics on Paw Paw's scooter!
Maci was so excited because Ariel is her favorite (mine too)!!
Cam says he doesn't like princesses but he was going along with it. haha!
