Trip Report **COMPLETED** The Hotter Than Hades Birthday Trip

Hey guys...sorry I am super delayed in writing this and I am certain it will take me forever to write this one too! But....I do want to share it so here we go!

Who?
Back to the usual ....my Mom (Mary) and myself (Megan)

When?
July 9 - 17, 2021

Where?
We stayed at the Yacht Club again

Why?
My 33rd Birthday - and it was hot out..... Also - I barely took my camera out so most of these photos are my from my phone. Sorry in advance

Day 1 July 9 2021
We got up at 3 am (), got ready and headed to the airport. My Mom stayed at my house so we could just drive together and not wake my Dad up
We got to the airport around 3:45 am and we were stuck in the Southwest line for forever because everyone forgot how to pack a suitcase, check in, take out a passport, etc etc.
Anyway - we eventually made it through security and to our gate.
Time for our usual date sign!

We were in row 2 on the plane!

We actually had a layover in Chicago which was super annoying. It was essentially the same distance from Chicago to Orlando as it is from Buffalo to Orlando so it was an extra 1.5 hour flight for the same distance essentially
Obviously it could not be helped as Southwest added this layover after I booked and there were no other options but we still complained
There was barely anything open at Midway to eat so we got some donuts. I only took a photo of one of them apparently. Off to a great start

It was stale so would not recommend
Anyway eventually we got on our second plane

Day 2 continued
We decided to head to Epcot to watch Epcot Forever. I genuinely really like this show and I did not think I would ever see it again so I was so happy is/was still running !
We watched from the area down by the water near France

I already showered so ignore my lack of makeup!

We played some Heads Up while we waited.

This was our first time seeing fireworks since COVID so naturally I sobbed the whole time. I also apparently sang all the words and knew all the fireworks timing because I was conducting them with my hands as I often do. How do I know this? Because the guy next to me asked me how long I worked at Disney....and I said I don't. He said...oh but you knew that show really well. And I was like ....I just really like this show and Disney . He was crying too so he agreed it was great to see fireworks again!
Anyway...after this we headed out and back to the room
Our room was on the 5th floor ---- RIP club level room

Day 3 July 11, 2021
We got up around 7, got ready and wandered around the Yacht Club for a bit

We had breakfast at Cape May Cafe so we checked in for that and had a short wait

Pastries and spreads to start

Love these little teapots!

We declined the yogurt but we did take the fruit

Pancakes, French toast, waffles

Bacon, sausage, eggs, tater tots, potatoes

More bacon...

They said they could not sing Happy Birthday to me but they could give me a cupcake so I got this cupcake ....in a cup

Our breakfast was overall meh. The food was all cold and honestly without the characters the appeal is gone. We will hold off on coming back until they bring (if they bring) the characters back.

Next up: Epcot!

Day 3 continued
I was really feeling my hair this day

We walked over to Epcot

We were pretty close to the front of rope drop

Ugh...these ugly things...

There were a ton of people behind us!

We got to Epcot around 9:50 and they did not open the park until 10:30. We were super sweaty already but walked all the way over to Test Track

SO HOT OUT

Next up: more Epcot

Day 3 continued

I was not super pleased that they were back to squishing everyone in the area after the design studio
Anyway...in the end we waited a long time because it shut down while we were in line. I wrote down that we were not off the ride until 11:30

I was pleased with my score though

After this we headed over towards Spaceship Earth

A lot of the water was drained - it looked so weird!

Next up: more Epcot

Day 3 continued

We waited about 20 minutes so not bad!
My Mom and I always joke that it has got to be so hard to learn math on a concrete slab

Look at all the birds!

We decided to eat lunch at the Regal Eagle so we headed over there
We enjoyed an empty World Showcase a few days ahead of Food and Wine

We waited outside while our order was being prepared....real feel 102

Day 3 continued

We ordered ribs to share

With fries and Mac and cheese

And the s'mores brownie

The food was actually really good! We enjoyed the Mac and cheese especially. The brownie was the only true disappointment - it was not as great as I would have anticipated.

After our lunch we headed out and to the quiet pool for a break.
I made my Mom do a full on photoshoot with me

We ended up only being down there for a few minutes because it started lightening so we headed upstairs and took a break on the balcony to read.

Next up: back to Epcot

We're eating at the Brown Derby in a couple weeks and I'm so tempted to try the Cobb salad. It looks really good!!

After getting ready we headed back over to Epcot and right to Figment!

We saw Pooh when we got off He is so cute!

We had dinner at Chefs de France so we checked in

We were seated pretty quickly

Views...

Bread to start....not going to lie...this bread was the best part of the meal I think. It was so warm and crispy

I ordred a French Martini which was yum as well

We both ordered the soup. It was good but huge! I was glad we did not end up ordering a full entree after because we were super full.

We otherwise split the charcuterie and the baked goat cheese salad

Those were both pretty meh .... I think we kind of always feel this way about France so I am not sure why we went back

We ordered the Crème Brûlée to split and they brought it out with a candle and sang to me in French

It was very tasty !
After dinner we were pretty sleepy so we headed out

Our balcony was super close to other balconies but we never saw anyone else out there

I always wanted number balloons so I was so excited! There was some candy in the bag that held it down too

These are so fun! Disney is a great way to celebrate your birthday! Your mom is so sweet!

We were in need of some A.C. so we headed to One Man's Dream

I love this exhibit and I especially love that it's air-conditioned!

I took this photo of my water to show my sister I actually drank some I live in a constant state of dehydration

YES, I do not drink as much water as I should but at Disney I definitely try to! Good job!

After our pool time we headed up to the room to get ready for dinner. Oh....and my Mom bought me this adorable ornament

We feel the same way about Chefs De France, but the menu draws us in...we haven't eaten there in years though, so who knows if and when we will be back?!
