Come along w/ Steve to IRELAND

@SteveBrickNJ , just out of curiosity, were there actual restaurants in the airport terminal where you flew out at Dublin Airport? I think they must divide between European flights and ones further out, like to the US or Asia, etc. I figured I'd grab a bite to eat after I got through security and everything. I'm always anxious until I get through security because I'm always worried it's going to take forever and I'm going to miss my flight. So I prefer to get through security and THEN worry about things like food, so if I'm short on time, I can just get to my gate. But first, there was no one at the check-in gate and I had to stand there waiting for over an hour before I could check in and I didn't dare leave in case the line got huge while I was gone and I would miss my flight because it took too long to check in. Finally got checked in, then had to wait for a while to go through security. Got through security and there was NOTHING past that point except convenience stores. There was one little cafe place that had premade sandwiches, but the main thing was coffee, which I don't drink. So I had to settle for a bag of chips and a candy bar from one of the convenience stores because that's all that was available. I'm so used to the long haul trips overseas where there are actual restaurants like the outback, or even a McDonalds near the gates. I didn't realize there wouldn't be anything like that in the terminal. Thank goodness the flight to the Netherlands isn't long. I just warned my husband that I'd need foodage before we got home, so we stopped somewhere after I landed. I was wondering if the other terminal had more options because the flights are longer.

Hi @Songbird76 !
After my family checked our bags in Dublin Airport (to return to America) we went up an escalator and saw a mini food court. We got something light before continuing our search for the gate.
It's a big airport. We might have been in a different terminal than you were in the memory you shared above with me.

I know I'm really late to the game, but Bavaria is a BEAUTIFUL area, and supposedly it's also a great place for beer if you like it, which I know you do. I'm not a beer drinker, but my husband enjoyed it! But there is a lot to see there!

That being said, while I've only seen Dublin in Ireland, I really enjoyed it. I'd like to see more of the countryside of it, though. I know someone who lives in Northern Ireland, and someone who lives in Ireland...I'd love to spend more time there, but I'd need a tour guide as there's no way I am driving on the left side of the road. I have to say, as an American, that's a point in favor of Germany...they drive on the right. But if you aren't the one driving, Ireland is a great choice. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

I'm hoping to do a girls trip to Ireland next year, with my college friend. Then maybe in a couple years Germany (Bavaria) with my husband. Lots of fun stuff to see in both places.

Steve, someday we will.meet up halfway (northern NJ, maybe) and have a great conversation.

I'm disappointed but not surprised by the way that sign was defaced, but I have hope that the island of my ancestors will not re-splinter into factions and hatred. 😟
I just decided to go page by page thru my Irish thread from last summer.
Sorry @Tiggerish that I only just now noticed your post that I've quoted.
