I'm very much looking forward to this. :) Nicole Kidman is the one actress who can get me to go see a movie no questions asked, lol. And then of course there's Jude Law. :slurp: But since my movie viewing time is VERY limited, (that is, actually GOING to a movie) it may not get seen until it comes out on dvd. :( I have to see LotR first.

Does it bother anyone else that the story is about Southerners, but they got 2 non-Americans as the lead roles? The movie looks wonderful, but their pathetic Southern accents have got to go. Just my thoughts on the movie.

I truthfully haven't paid close enough attention to the previews to notice accents, but I have a hard time believing Nicole Kidman couldn't do a southern accent. And I'm sure we're no more appalled than the British were when a certain Texan was cast as Bridget Jones.

After living in SC for the past 5 years, I find it painful extremely painful to hear a poor Southern accent. And I personally do not find Ms. Kidman's or Mr. Law's to be anything to cheer over.

And I totally agree on the Bridget Jones' thing. Not very good at all!

I have no problem with this! Does anyone remember a movie set in the south in the Civil war called"Gone with the wind" where the lead role of "Scarlett" was played by a well known Brittish actress named Vivein Leigh? It became a Classic! :D

Is that where they're supposed to be from? SC? There are different dialects within the term "southern accent." Just as not everybody from the UK speaks in the same dialect. Heck, people from Ohio have different dialects, lol.

And in an aside, Entertainment weekly's got the three of them on the cover talking about Oscar buzz for this movie. :) Just like that certain Texan got for Bridget Jones. I really do want to see it. Movies are meant to be seen in a theater, lol. I just can't get to them as often. :(

Don't get me wrong. I sooo want to see this movie. It looks wonderful. I just have a soft spot for the accent.

And I'm not sure where it actually takes place, but since the Civil War started in SC and a ton of battles took place there, there is a good chance, it might be taking place there.

Vivian Leigh's accent was pretty bad too. But like I said, I want to see the movie, I just wish they could have gotten Americans for a movie about the US Civial War.
