Coco ride? (Image on new Imagineering Site)

The difference between rat and coco is that rat was being build in Paris. Since the movie is 59th biggest movie in France and it has bits of French culture. Epcot only is getting that ride, because they already have it somewhere, they just need to copy it.
Coco was also a pretty big succes, but maybe they're not sure if a lot of people are interested in a Coco ride. It is kinda hard to explain.
Coco became the #1 movie of all-time in Mexico, and it made almost $190 million more worldwide than Ratatouille.

You’re right, though, that laziness is the reason Rat is coming to Epcot. As someone who’s experienced it, I think it’ll be anticlimactic as a follow-up to Rise and (likely) MMRR, but it fits well enough.

Would be happy to see Coco receive an attraction, and at a minimum the experience could be brought to Pixar Pier and/or Shanghai (China loved the movie too) if Disney’s looking for efficiency.

I agree with the posters above, Coco would make a solid addition to the Mexico pavilion. Ratatouille was a moderate success for Pixar and its getting an attraction. Not sure why Coco can't do the same. I for one feel all the WS pavilions need a ride of some sort and if an IP is involved at least fit thematically. Tangled could be added to a Rhine River Cruise in Germany. The same for Mulan for a China attraction. Here's hoping Mary Poppins is incorporated well and has an actual attraction (not a walk thru) in the UK pavilion.
Tangled fits Germany even less so than Frozen fits Norway.

They’re both set in imaginary lands.
Frozen at least is more directly inspired by the art, costumes and architecture from Norway.

Tangled is veeeery loosely inspired by Germany.

Tangled fits Fantasyland perfectly.
(As does Frozen)

True, Tangled is loosely inspired on a German fairytale however my point was Coco would be a more thematically appropriate IP for a ride in the Mexico pavilion.

Yeah, but probably most of the people who visit the American parks are white Americans. It could bring more Mexicans over to the Disney parks.
The difference between coco and rat is about 80 million, since it made 620 million in 2010 so you have to calculate it.

Thing is, people are interested in any ride...it could be themed to the talking trash can and it would be popular... IP is part of the experience, but the ride/attraction is the thing... Coco or Mulan or Ratatouille don't need to prove their movie success to have a great and well loved attraction that is a draw... Adding attractions to World Showcase was always the plan...they should be added and developed where culturally appropriate to the pavilion...Coco, yes, Mulan, yes, Tangled, No as it does not take place in any of the countries represented... It is just a fairytale hybrid that belongs in the Magic Kingdom. Mary Poppins (both versions) take place in the very real location of London...that would fit..Alice begins in England (non specific) and the rest of the story is in Wonderland...perhaps a better fit to Magic Kingdom...there is an easily understandable framework..
