so i was up at disney for the marathon weekend in the beginning of january, and went to club cool for the first time in years. it was very 'cool', for lack of better word, and i was glad we spent five of our precious epcot minutes in there. however, i was confused about the marketing aspect of the entire thing.

why doesn't coca cola actually sell the drinks that you can sample there? wouldn't that make sense, since the international drinks are from their company?.. after drinking shot after shot of smart watermelon, i wasn't exactly in the mood to buy one of the many coke's they were selling there, even if they were in oh-so-fancy glass bottles. does anyone else get what i'm saying? wouldn't it be a marketing steal, for them to sell the international drinks? maybe i'm missing something.

It's easier (and cheaper) to just fill your refillable mug with whatever flavor you want. I see people do it all the time. :)

My high school went for Magic Music Days back in 2003 and my friends and I fell so in love with that watermelon soda that we spent weeks trying to find a place to buy it online. No go. Something about they can't sell the international drinks in the USA for some reason. That's why they have them in Club Cool for free.

People would probably fill up their mugs w/the coke too and coke sales around the rest of the park would decrease (albeit slightly). There would definitely be a line if it was heard you could get free coke somewhere in Disney. Plus maybe they assume everyone knows what Coke tastes like. I'm sure coke makes enough bank off of having coke as the only provider of cola in Disney world. But I've got to agree with another poster...why not make those sample drinks available in larger quantities and easily purchased online or something?

Where is Club Cool located? In all of the years I have been to Disney, I have never heard of this until I came on this board.

nono, you missed the point of my question. the question was why they don't sell the international drinks in the store itself? i understand the coke sales decreasing, but why not sell the drinks that they're offering samples of?

Would make sense, too. The drinks get enough attention that they should at least be sold somewhere within Club Cool, and I'm surprised Coke hasn't cashed in on this opportunity yet.

When filling up an empty water bottle with the fanta strawberry, I was told by one of the workers, 'You're only supposed to sample it sir.' I told her what's wrong with making it portable, as I could stay here all day and 'sample' it. She repeated the same line. So I stopped and left with my half full bottle. I've filled it up many times before, but obviously you're only supposed to sample it. But that fanta is sooooooo good, I just can't help myself sometimes.

I've heard rumors that Disney gets their Coke free. Disney allows them to be exclusive, Coke gives their syrup for all their fountain drinks free. Sounds like a good deal to me!

Disney gets the machines for free and probably all the syrup at club cool free. Cola is extremly cheap and I am sure Disney gets a decreased price on syrup as they are selling more at one time then anyone else on the planet. As for going and filling up your mug at the club cool, how tacky is that! Come on people have some class. DO anything for free.

I can't resist...please forgive me.

I like to fill my 2005 resort mug up at Club Cool after I finish my drink from the QS at the Beach Club where I parked at to use the pool and walk to Epcot even though I'm staying at All Star Sports.

Seriously though, let's just keep Club Cool stocked with free samples.
