Thank you all for the gracious welcome! I am excited to be able to contribute to help some of the veterans and bounce some ideas around!
Happy to see you here! Feel free to chime in on anything!

A few things we've been talking about recently are an Alice in Wonderland trackless dark ride and a Winnie the Pooh boat ride...any suggestions for those?:bookworm:

What kind tone is being considered for the Winnie the Pooh boat ride? To clarify is this more of a cheery and bright ride similar to that of Small World or maybe more of dimly lit boat ride like Pirates? I say this because I think with any Winnie the Pooh attraction the element of the ride that has to be done the best is the heffalump and woolze scene. This scene to be done well would be awesome in a darker setting with things that appear in the dark suddenly. All of the Winnie the Pooh rides seems to have similar linear stories with similar scenes. I think it would be interesting to see if as a group we could come up with a different story line.

Regarding Alice, I think LPS dark ride is the right move I would need to brush up better on the storyline with Alice since it has been awhile since I have scene the film. However, I did really enjoy the Alice ride in DL after getting my first chance riding it since it was being refurbished when I was there last. I think the scene with the Queen of Harts and the Playing Cards could look awesome with updated AA's.

Ah that's interesting. I agree that my favorite scene in any Winnie the Pooh ride is always the heffalump and woozle scene. It sets it apart from all the others.

I would say more towards the cheery side (unless @Brer Oswald @David2319 @FigmentPigments and others) are thinking in a different direction. I remember a Winnie the Pooh Halloween special that had some scarier moments.

I don't know if scary or just a different tone was what you were thinking -- I'd have to really think on it to come up with a new storyline because you're right most have just followed the same basic plot.

I guess with the boat ride lighting style and the degree of lighting has huge impact on the tone of the ride. I think a cheery vibe would be the right way to go with it. However, I think a transition into a dark setting for heffalump and woozles would be an especially cool scene with some blacklighting and haunted mansion like effects.

Hmm definitely!

I'm trying to think of an interesting way to do that...maybe a smoke effect? That blurs your vision while the lights dim? Like floating into dream clouds before entering into the heffalump dream?

I like that idea a lot! My original idea was the water screen from Pirates but I never have felt that the effect has been consistently executed.

Wow, opened the forums and got 40 alerts!!!
As for Winnie the Pooh, the whole series is very cheery. Even the Heffalumps and Woozles scene isn't THAT dark. I used to have some weird perception that Winnie the Pooh was scary, but it was also my favourite thing (I was a very strange child). I do think it is important to nail the effects in the H and W scene though.
