Loved the fireworks and pyro effects, loved the music and the theme song.

Liked the projections. Still too many gimicky effects and movie screen moments for my taste, but still well done.

But really missing some semblance of story or organization. I mean no fireworks show really has a story, but some kind of narrative thread to move through the show. Feels like that thing could have been re-edited in any order with no issues. Maybe it could have used some narration in the middle to transition from segment to segment. But that impression may just be from the editing of the livestream, so I will not be too judgmental for now.

Definitely impressive though, so a good addition to the parks. Need to really see it in person to have a better opinion.

I completely agree with you. In terms of show quality it probably is the greatest Disney Firework show ever done. I mean the Pirates of the Caribbean section and the villainous green fireworks. I could talk about the visuals all day.

I think the story looks terrible in comparison to Wishes because wishes was so truly unique in it's story telling. I can't think of a Disney Firework show that comes close to telling a story like Wishes except maybe Disney Dreams. This was a traditional Disney Firework show on steriods, I say that because Wishes in many ways wasn't traditional. This reminds me of the classic Disneyland shows.

I was in awe at how epic that Pirates section looked. Weird visual to see the castle on fire, but it sure did look awesome.

Disney Dreams is absolutely top for me because of the simple narrative concept. Still allowed it to have the variety of the mashup, but at least there was something that moved us through the story towards the standard villains defeated climax. I miss that show.

But still, this one looked pretty great in the technical and visual aspect, so I'm all for it.

Thoughts on Happily Ever After everyone?
It's hard to judge fireworks based on videos (for instance I didn't like Illuminations on video but then seeing it in person is so much different.)

This on video looks better than Wishes. My only complaint is the length. I think some sections are dragged out with not much going on and with no real narrative structure, it's just kinda...there. Again maybe seeing the projects on the castle will make it better...but I can just imagine a hot and sweaty night in August packed shoulder to shoulder standing for 18 minutes...12 minutes was an ideal length, imo.

But can we talk effects? I mean the Villains, Pirates scenes are huge standouts. And I also think the finale is more impressive from a pyrotechnic standpoint than Wishes. Overall - great show!

Map Update.... Here's the plan...:bookworm:

Frontierland/Critter Country Becomes sub-land of Fantasyland.... "Tall Tales Town" or something like that... Representing American folklore and stories. That Transitions into Advetureland Via the UP Attraction... America to South America.... not bad...

Pirates Keeps a similar layout, but is moved as well.....

Tiki Room is now on the water with Moana Stage Show seating... the quick service is next to the stadium to easily upsell snacks during the show.

Adventureland moves to be next to pacific wharf... which transitions from the Tiki Rook (Pacific) to San Fran... which makes sense.

Outback Goes in Adventureland's place... Making the American Wild West Transition to the outback make a little more sense o_O

(Honestly, if @D Hindley is okay with it... I may flip Adventureland/Outback area to go in the bottom left of the map... With Pacific Wharf and Tall tales in the top left. Keeping the America section close together.)

Thoughts on this everyone?

I'll be at work again soon... I won't be on much... I'm going to try to glance at the forum on break...

Comments today on the map plan will for sure be taken into consideration! :D
....:p

Okay -- I feel bad because I had left most of this to you when I know you have other things going on and are trying to fill in the 'lead' role abruptly. Sorry about that

This week I had my final exam for my Masters in medical science -- it went well! Just took it today and got home. Graduating next Friday so all the studying went to good use, but that meant that I was in and out for the last week or so and Red was filling in the gaps as best as possible. I'm applying to med schools coming up in June and taking the MCAT so my time up until mid-June is going to be very tight. But at the same time, we have all worked so hard on this project that I'm not going to let two plus months of dedication go to waste.

This weekend -- based on all the feedback this past week with what to add/subtract to the park, what we have so far, and what we plan to do -- I will takeover for Red and propose a final draft of the map -- which then Imagineerland can use for his official map.

I will take everything into consideration, all attractions, ideas, and what not -- but I can't promise that everything will be in the park.

The main things I'm focusing on are what Joe Rohde had told Red...."story first"

Similar to Happily Ever After, we could have The Little Mermaid, then Mary Poppins, then Gravity Falls, which individually may be awesome attractions...but the story determines what attractions to include.

I'll also allow enough time so that there can be feedback to it as well, but again...my priorities will be

1 - Story
2 - Layout (what attractions flow into the other and the accessibility of the park paths)
3 - Completed Attractions (those get priority for me since people wrote them out in full already)
4 - 'Cool' Idea Attractions (some to include if they flow, and some for expansions in Phase 2)

Hopefully by tomorrow I should have it up!:)

Here are my typed out thoughts so far...my eyes were straining trying to do it on a map so I will get to that tomorrow. But hopefully this explains my thought process on the story.

While not an overlycomplicated story -- it is a story of time travel and discovery. The time periods you're in dictate what types of experiences you will have, how one area will flow to another, and what you can expect from each one. While an average guest may not be able to or care to notice the details of the time periods....I think the avid Disney fan will find it fun to analyze and expand the story of the park.

Also several of the lands in the park are divided into 'towns' -- to make them seem like these fantasy places are real, and that you're actively taking part in the adventures along the way.

With that said -- here are the lands starting at the front:

Fantasia Gardens
time period unknown

This unknown time period is on purpose for the storytelling. In that the story doesn't start in any particular time. However...every branch off of Fantasia Gardens - takes you into a different era. A different atmosphere. A different story to tell.

Much like the film Fantasia is very eclectic in its story-telling -- that variety is the jumping off point of the "unknown" time period that allows our guests to decide where they want to take their story. This is an active movement towards a certain story.

Pacific Wharf
- San Francisco circa 1905

All attractions/backstory from before -- only thing I'm unsure on is whether Museum of the Weird is a walk-through or actual ride.

Frontierland
- Rainbow Ridge 1850s
- Victoria Creek (Australian inspired 'cursed' Mine Train) 1850s
- Red River Bayou 1870s - 1920s

3 "towns" or areas of the expansive Frontier. While they are mainly Americana territories, basically the whole "gold-rush" backstory will be based on the fact that Victoria, Australia (in real life) had the gold rush before California did.

In this "Frontierland" backstory -- the miners from Australia will move to California, and rename the areas as their own. This will cause conflict with the native settlers in California, and now we have our attractions. A 'cursed' mine train based on a conflict between Bullion and a new character from Victoria Creek that we can create.

Instead of forcing Critter Country to be Australian...all we have to do is work it into the gold rush backstory of Frontierland -- boom!

I was remembering the River Country project we did a while back and also the Princess and the Frog C-Ticket. Both Splash Mountain and Princess and the Frog would make a great mini-segment of Frontierland (The Red River Bayou) which would then transition into Fantasyland. Both are stories and that is getting into the "Storybook Land"

Adventureland
- Tortuga (Caribbean) 1400s
- Motunui (Moana) 3,000 years ago
- Tonga 2,000 years ago

Continuing to the northern most land in the park -- we enter the most ancient land - Adventureland. Travel back in time to the Caribbean town of Tortuga in the 1400s on an island. A highly detailed and immersive entrance to Pirates of the Caribbean, and a variety of other Pirate themed areas such as a Ghost Ship, merchandise, dining, and more.

The other side of Adventurland will be in the islands...specifically Motunui from Moana. With a large stage show on the lagoon and meet and greets on the island. The next small island is home to the Enchanted Tiki Room as well as an ancient Treehouse, a "Sorcerers of the MK" type scavenger hunt, and tropical eateries with ancient Polynesia cultures.

Storybookland
- Old England storybooks 1800s
- Countryside storybooks 1800s

It's a great drawing...but it also got me to thinking...what if this was the entire land?

Think about it. We have a miniature version of the land, in the middle of the land, taking up a huge chunk of spac. It's like a dream within a dream. We inceptioned Fantasyland:p

Why not just make it the land itself. It'll add a ton more water effects and greenery to the park. And be something completely different. We can also have the Casey Jr. Train as well overhead if we want. But with this land...we also do need to trim the fat on the attractions I feel.

Old English
- Peter Pan's Flight (coming off of tropical Polynesia)
- Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
- Mary Poppins Jolly Holiday

Countryside
- A Tangled Tale - Italy
- Beauty and the Beast Theater Show - France
- The Little Mermaid - Spain (with more space available on the left side -- this could act as a transition from the cliffsides of the Bayou to the cliffsides of a mermaid lagoon on the opposite side.
- Casey Jr. Train - Traveling Circus
- Dumbo - Traveling Circus

Misc
- Fantasia Dark Ride
- Storybookland Canal Boats

For Phase 2, we have Winnie the Pooh (I don't mind removing my own attraction) and possibly Alice. Alice in Wonderland is great, but does not fit the flow of this land as well as the other attractions I feel. As well as any other attractions we were talking about

Shadowlands (extension of Storybookland)

This land is tough because there can be so much done, but at the same time...how does it fit the story? Truth is...having a bunch of random Villain Rides doesn't do anyone good...unless it flows from Storybookland. That's why I was thinking of....

- Old England storybooks 1800s
@rawisericho had said he is working on a Cruella ride.

- Countryside storybooks 1800s
- Nightmare Before Christmas Restaurant
- Bald Mountain

Phase 2 can have Villains Academy, Gravity Falls, Elephant Graveyard, etc which have been discussed. I know @FigmentPigments was working on a Big Hero 6 ride, but thinking on it, I feel it'll be much better to be saved for Phase 2.

Tomorrowland
- Progress City 2100s and beyond

This one is pretty straight forward. It's a city of the future. With theaters, streets (Autopia), transportation, teleporation, time travel, and scientific quests for knowledge.

So Happily Ever After: I LOVED IT!
There's story! And it's not just a sappy lecture on WEESHEES AND DREEEEEMS!!1! It's a topic we've never seen in a fireworks show, finding your happily ever after. The stained glass castle is one of my favorite visuals in Disney history with the narrator talking about 'now it's your turn' as every character on this castle got their happily ever after now take that inspiration and find your's. The theme is phenomenal and fits the show like a glove. The Pirates segment is amazing but Go the Distance is just... perfection and it's the best moment in the show. This is my new Perfection in the Sky. I really can't imagine a better show. It wasn't a normal 'Best Of' show. It's a show that could only be done in this day and age and the huge variety of music and the lesser known movies featured (THAT OUT THERE SEGMENT!) were amazing. I'm going down in December with a friend from work for Very Merry and I can not wait to see the show in person.

I love this new story concept. I know we briefly talked about using the Team Hufflepuff Discoveryland Streetmosphere characters for the land. Is that still on that table? The Time's Domain idea translates well to the city of the future and I can edit Disneyland Celebration to fit the changes made here and make the Time Characters instead of tge vague 'Streetmosphere characters'

Oh forgot to mention -- all parades, castle shows, and fireworks are all still good to go I think. They're all really cool and are in a way tangential from the 'park' story which was why I didn't have them above.
I know the Fantasyland stage show was moved to the castle. I'm willing to scrap or combine it with the Golden Fairytale Ball if @LSCreative is willing to work with me on it.

That works as well -- maybe the 2nd theater across from An Adventure in Time -- can be about Times's Domain...which would make sense given the one across the street is about time travel.
