Hey all...Just thought I'd post a few pictures to show you why I haven't been on lately. My roommate and I found two 3-4 day old kittens about 3 weeks back that we've been bottle feeding. Here's a picture of one of them.

HOW SWEET!!!!!!!!!

I volunteer at a cat shelter and we are starting to get kittens. I just love them all!!!

What a great experience for you! Have you been able to find the mother? I might be able to find a low-cost spay/neuter program in your area through the Best Friends network.

If you could that would be wonderful. We saw the mother initiallywhen all six of the litter were there (she's a stray) but we haven't seen her since she moved the other 4. We gave her almost 16 hours to come back for these last two but when she didn't at dusk and it was almost 40 degrees we HAD to bring them in.

I'll routinely post a new pic for you guys. :) Here's one I took about 5 minutes ago. :D

MGMBoy, that grey kitten looks just like my Dixie aka Porker did at a few weeks! I found his mom, then her kittens. I found homes for the others, but kept one along with the mom. She died several years ago,but I still have the kitten....along with 5 other strays! Needless to say, I AM a cat person! :D

This one is a shot I took of a previous Poloroid so it's kind of grainy. She's resting on a stuffed tiger we put in their pen to keep them company.

Ha ha-- there must be something about stuffed tigers and kitties!! My husband LOVES white tigers, and has a few stuffed ones...some of them rather large...we sent a picture of Maggie (cat) on one of them to our boy in Nepal and got a letter back. He was very excited about the picture and wanted to know if the tiger was real!! Makes you stop to think what kind of "magical land" America is to some of these kids

Anyway, she thinks the smaller ones are her kittens and grooms them, carries them around by their necks, puts them to bed-- it's always either the tigers, or else my beanie Donald Ducks-- the former I can understand, but the latter-- ???

Anyway, I just wanted to reiterate what a wonderful thing it is you are doing. May is the peak month for abandoned kittens (here in Illinois, at least). People tend to be very cruel to cats and who knows what might have happened had you not taken these babies in. They really are precious!!

It's so nice to read a HAPPY animal story for once, don't you think?

Thanks Mom for yours also! Anyone else with a happy story? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Well, our first two came from the local humane society. Our first was a petite, 3-4 month old black DSH female we named Jaina. She is now 5 years old and very affectionate with us but not strangers.

Our second, Scully, which we lost early in 2000 to liver cancer was a 4 year old flamepoint siamese female. We had her not quite two years and got her from the same humane society.

Our other current cat is a purebreed but not for a lack of trying. We wanted a male kitten that wasn't black. Low and behold everything the humane society had was either female or black. We had a hard enough time calling each of the "kids" by their correct names without them looking similar. After a number of months we broke down and adopted Wedge, a Champagne Mink Tonkinesse.

Both Wedge and Jaina weigh in at a svelte 8 pounds but Wedge is actually about an inch shorter. Strange to see a male cat be smaller than the female. We still contribute to our Humane Society with money and supplies when we can.
