Cinderella Castle overlay info

I love the look of the concept art. I am definitely looking forward to seeing it in April and May when I go. Count me in with the group that wouldn't mind if it stayed because the overlay really compliments the castle whereas the wand does not compliment Spaceship Earth.

When I go down there in February, are they going to be selling construction hats with Mickey Mouse ears?

At this point, it seems the list of what's open and working is SHORTER than what is under rehab or closed because only open seasonally.

Closed for early February:

hub around Cinderella's castle
Dumbo
Astro-Orbiters
Its a Small World
20K lagoon
Time Keeper
Liberty Square Riverboat - no great loss there, admittedly.

Maybe the castle view will be obstructed, but according to Mouse Planet, character breakfasts return at Cinderella's Royal Table on January 29, so I guess the castle will not be "closed" while it is getting its makeover.

The only thing that irks me (and I can be easily irked) is the same old thing that happens when off-season renovations occur: reduced hours, reduced attractions, construction everywhere for your future enjoyment, but . . . SAME PRICES as the folks pay when everything is up and running.

Intersting that they will include images of all five castles from around the world since there are only three castle designs. I'm excited to see it finished.

I Have to say that it will probally be different angles of the castles, like on the Disney Destinations website (FL=Head-on shot, Tokyo=Backside shot)

reduced lines
reduced heat
reduced crowds
reduced hotel rates

If you choose to come in the off season, you must take the good with the bad.

I don't know, but I'd be surprised if we saw a huge amount of scaffolding around the castle ala DL. With that prototype/test turret they did a while ago, it was put up one night and then taken down a day or two later with no impact to guests during the day. Given that they have mapped out 2 months for the entire install of the decortations, I'd imagine things could be done a few things at a time without having to put the whole castle in scaffolding ever (a few turrets at a time for instance) Afterall, when they painted the blue turrets a few years ago, they didn't cover up any of the castle (although a huge crane did sit behind it for some time).

I'd imagine the really "big" decoration that will involve some assembly over a period of time is the "jumbotron" stained glass centerpiece...that may require some scaffolding for a period of time .

I wouldn't mind having the overlay stay either, but I'm still quite uneasy over the whole cramming of statues in the balconies and turrets, At least we didn't get a big mickey wand over it!

And yeah I read around here in these boards that the Epcot wand finally goes down in May.

I wonder what they'll do for WDW's 50th....

True dat, especially the hotel rates. However, my most recent experience in going during "off-season" (October 04), was the crowds were still there, remember?

I don't know what it says for expected park attendance that I couldn't get a room for 3 consecutive nights at any value resort except Music. Sounds to me like another busy off-season.

I too heard that the wand and stars over spaceship earth will come down around or during May 2005. I don't remember where I read that though. Damn even if that is true, I'm going in April so I'll still have to see the colossus over SSE once again...maybe for the last time !

I too wouldn't mind if the "new" cinderella castle stayed around a little after the 50th anniversary celebration. It does look more magical and appealing.

Yea for the 50th of WDW they will spray paint the castle and spaceship earth completely gold. :hammer: :p

Disney picked up on this too, most of October is no longer value season.
