Church Weddings or Not

I will second The mom and Mightyduck, there is no need for an anullment if you are a widow/widower. They can get married again with no problems.
Yes, anullments are very expensive and I think part of the reason is that if they were cheap and easy to get, everyone would be doing them. There are certain reasons that could make the couple eligible to get an anullment, but I rather not discuss them now and here. It´s sad that sometimes, people abuse them or lie to be able to get married by the Church again.

We got married in a gazebo in the city my husband grew up in. We weren't yet members of his church, but his parents were if we decied to do that.
Since I was raised Catholic and him Baptist it would have been easier to marry at his church. We decided on the outdoor wedding becuase we consider the sky to be the roof of God's church. I also had the issue of my grandparents totally boycotting my wedding becuase I was not getting married in the Catholic church (Gram even tried to bribe me with a horse drawn carriage, but there was too much church-politics involved with that) (I also don't understand a lot of the Catholism way anyway). They threatened not to come even though we were not getting married in my husband's church, but surprised me the morning of the wedding by arriving in time to get me to the service. (Would have looked funny driving in the Geo Metro I had at the time!! :lol: )
