Okay folks. I'm stuck working on Christmas Eve :( and I know I'm not the only one. Just wondering how many of you are stuck working.

I find it a bit ridiculous that on such a big family day, so many companies require their employees to work.

My dad says Christmas Eve hasn't got anything to do with Christmas, only after 10 PM...

As for me, if I'm having my way and I plan right, I'll be off. Although this year, I don't think I'd mind working THAT much, I just spent two weeks without any work at all, it's gonna be a very thin month...

Well, Roddy, I think my company feels the same way you do...

I'm working til noon and then they are having a big company get together for a luncheon...and then I'm off until Monday.

(although, I shouldn't be saying anything, they took us out for a Christmas Party the other night at this place called F1-Boston and it's a huge go-kart track that they rented out for 3 hours and it's set up like a race (where your time is recorded and you are placed into the next race according to your qualifying times)...The cars go like 40-45mph so it's a BLAST! (I came in 4th overall out of 52 drivers)

When I was working, I never minded working on the 24th... most of the times, we would work until 5pm or we would work half day. Dinner is always late here, so it didn´t really matter. It´s the 25th that I didn´t like working because we gather for lunch with my family.

On the other hand, I hated working on December 31st, but always requested working the early shift on January 1st when I was working at the hotel because the pay was double (triple if it was a Sunday) and it was the most quiet day of the year! Everybody sleepy and in a good mood! :)

Working on Christmas Eve.

I am pleased to say that after working at this job for 7 years I finally get Christmas Eve off. Yahoo!!! I enjoy Christmas Eve even more that the Day itself. Looking forward to it.

Money, money, money. Christmas Eve was one of the busiest days at the grocery store I worked at (for a long time). And one of the most tiresome. It was hard to enjoy the rest of the day and Christmas Day because of how much they would push us. Now that I am out of the business, every time I go to Wal-Mart I get reminded of why I didn't get back in the business.

Hey, I would understand being forced to work if I was in retail or something...but I'm in finance at a large corporation. I think I'm really beginning to hate our benefits. :)

I don't have a job so I'm not working Christmas Eve but my best friend is stuck working 9-6 on Chirstmas Eve. Poor guy. He has to work every day between now and Christmas except for Monday. Somehow he managed to get that day off of work. He's pulled weird hours too. I guess the fact that he works at K-mart and they're open for 100 hours straight doesn't help much.

One thing I miss about having a job is not having paid vacation. When you're self-employed; no work, no pay.
