How soon after Halloween do they start the Christmas decor? We want to take the kids for them next year, but want to avoid the Holiday prices ...lol..I'd like to take them to a MVMCP also..one of the first ones of the season.

The last Not so Scary parade is Fri. Nov 2, so they might take down Halloween decorations that night and start putting up the Christmas ones then also. The first Very Merry Party I believe is Friday Nov 9th.

I thought I was being clever this year when I booked our trip, thinking we'd be able to hit up MNSSHP & MVMCP in one vacation!! I based my trip dates on last years' party dates, but alas, Disney switched things up & now we're missing MVMCP & the start of the Osbourne Dancing Lights by ONE DAY!! We're also missing the AP preview of Fantasyland by 10 days, the re-opening of Test Track by 20 days (or there abouts), & the possibility of the MM&Y castle show not being "ready":(. This will be the last time we go to WDW before Thanksgiving, since Disney is so fond of the quote, "In time for the holidays";).

I can tell you though, when we went last year, we attended MNSSHP on Nov. 1st & by Nov. 2nd, the resorts were already playing Christmas music & MK was already switching out decorations. Typically, most of the holiday decor is in place one week after the final MNSSHP, and the other parks and resorts are completely decorated around Thanksgiving. So, if you're planning on attending both MNSSHP & MVMCP, you'll need 12 days: 10/31-11/11 (to guarantee both events & decorations).

perfect!! any history of FD those times?

This by far is the best website to track historical infromation as to when Disney released their discounts and what they were . I hope this helps:

On a side ntoe, why not plan a trip the week after Thanksgiving, the parks crowds should be pretty low and typically they have offered discounts during that time. That's when our tip is scheduled for this year and we are on FD. Good luck.

We're going the second week of December. All the holiday decorations and events will be up and running. The prices are not Peak, crowds should be reasonable, and we're getting free dining. Great all around!

Its early in November. We went the week of Thanksgiving in 2007 and it was a great time to go. Before Thanksgiving Day, the parks were empty! We went to MVMCP. And of course, all the Christmas Decor was up. By the time you go to Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving, it was getting crowded. If you don't mind pulling them out of school, then go mid November or early December.

We homeschool so the school calendar is moot :)

now we are thinking early Dec..lol
Early December is a great time to go. Crowds a lot lighter than Thanksgiving week and WDW is in full Christmas mode. First 2 weeks in December are best in terms of crowds. Weather is usually nice during the day but we've had a few cold nights. I think they film the Christmas Day parade the first week of December. We saw this a couple of times. It's funny to see them stop the entire parade, have everyone move back, and say "roll it" again.

Is it bad that I want to home school just so I can take my kids to Disney? hee hee :) Just kidding! I'm actually an elementary school teacher so if we are blessed with a family, we are considering it.

hee hee..having to not worry about someone else's schedule is a huge plus..my oldest was only home for 7-8th ,11-12th grades..the other 3 have never gone ( well the 10 year old went for a day with his friends and will never ever go back he says..lol)
