Chevy's RevItUp will be touring the US, with a stop at WDW.

July 27 and 28: Orlando, Fla. – Walt Disney World Epcot Center.

Assumedly this will be in the parking lot like rpevious automotive events. This event is a bit different though as for $25 you can register to race a chevy cobalt SS for four laps against other drivers.

Oo, exciting.

Ha, over a decade after the moniker was dropped, it's still known as the "Center"!

Gotta love it. ;)

Well, thanks for the heads up Merf. :D

they should set this up right in Epcot Center(??)...for $25, I'd surely race a Chevy Cobalt SS around World Showcase! Hopefully it doesn't turn into Grand Theft Auto, though...I'd be the first to get 6 stars :lookaroun

Corvette Z06 and I'd be there in a heartbeat. Why a Cobalt??? Yes, they're a sporty little compact car but if this is about speed and handling wouldn't they get more people if they let you get behind the wheel of something with a little more to show off?

I guess they're marketing the SS line to show the normal consumers that these things really can handle.

yes and since GM just took a PR right hook under the chin from Toyota... andthing for the normal consumer would help the company. why try and market cars that the average person cant afford.

so merf, $25 gets you in the car... or is that buying a chance to get in the car?

$25 gets you in the car. Then they have some races based on skill level, then the winners race to get the top-thingy for that location, and those top people from each location then race to win the Corvette.

If you win your location, they pay for airfare and such to get you to the final race for the corvette.

I'm thinking about starting "Team 25th Anniversary" to see if we can win Epcot :)

Because 99.9% of the population would send a Z06 straight into a curb. The vast majority of people (myself included) won't even be able to properly drive a Cobalt to it's limits.

BTW this sounds really cool and I will be there!

Well, my other half was big into autocrossing and to reassure me tells tales of never being disqualified (aka: hitting a cone).

I could use a new car..

Question: Why Epcot parking lot? I thought Disney already have a race track on the property between Epcot and MK. This also would seem better suited for the sport complex also.

That race track is just an oval. You're not going to get many handling runs in on an oval. (NASCAR uses an oval...I think they'd be more interested in an F-1 style track...which they can easily set up in a large parking lot)

That one is located right outside of the MK parking lot.
