Chester and Hester's Dino-Rama is it worth it?

>>>1) These are not carny rides--you won't find anything like either attractions at any carnival<<<

Oh, so that wild mouse I saw at the state fair was my imagination (and the NC State Fair is nothing more than a glorified carnival. It is an embarassment when compared to something like the California State Fair).

>>>and many of them offer pictures for you to compare theming and see how much disney has done<<<

Disney basically added a somewhat themed shelter to house the queue.

>>>The area was not CHEAP to construct--I don't have the exact numbers, because disney does not release them, but this area had costs in the $millions<<<

If they spent that much, then they need to return the receipt. If the local go-kart track can afford a wild mouse, then these rides do not cost millions.

>>>Had Primeval Whirl been enclosed, it would have had roughly as much theming on the inside as Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.<<<

That is not saying much.

>>>I'm tired of seeing the value of my stocks drop.<<<

Then take action and help get rid of the current management team.

I was just tired of arguing my point...the point of this thread really drifted off into an all-out bashing...

(but I agree with you Pheneix)

I do not feel that there is much THEMING in RockNRollercoaster...The preshow is AWESOME and the CONCEPT is actually really good...but billboard type visuals really make the attraction fall flat. (but a decent coaster in it's own right)

I think that you and I feel that there should be a little MORE to a Disney attraction.

Bingo. Disney is about dramatically exceeding guests expectations, not just merely meeting them.

NICELY PUT!

(and in my opinion...if they don't have the money to accomplish this...SAVE YOUR MONEY until YOU CAN!)

"and in the case of TriceraTop Spin, this is an attraction that disney has been using since day-one."

exactly!! and they're using it to DEATH which is exactly why they should stop! but that's a whole different point to be made.

as for Disney thinking they needed a new area fast and for 'not much money'? no they didn't! i think people would much rather Disney use their money wisely and put some thought into what they build...not just throw something out there quickly just to say they've expanded. i agree with WDWFREAK...they should've put that money into something else like Beastly Kingdom or a refurbing and older ride...sure, with Beastly Kingdom it wouldn't have gone THAT far, but that would've been however many million(s) that they wouldn't have had to spend on BK.
besides, if Disney supposedly wasn't going to spend that much money on this area, why build it? and what are you trying to say anyways? that this area was cheap, perhaps? sort of contradicting....first you say that it's not as cheap as we think it is, and then you say that Disney wasn't going to spend much money on the area. you say that they attractions that WDWFREAK mentioned would've cost too much money...depends on the type of ride...sure, if it had been a Jungle Cruise type ride, it would've cost more money then what Disney was willing to fork out...but if it was a 'fly-around-in-a-circle' type ride, then most likely it would've cost the same amount as TriceraTop Spin. besides, all they had to do was make one or two attractions...which they did anyway in Dino-Rama. all they had to do was build one or two new attractions in an already developed area that had no rides (Camp Minnie-Mickey), take all the money that they used in Dino-Rama and put it all into those one or two attractions. they would've spent more money on a few attractions which would have made it better (looking, themed, etc). main point here...if you're building on a budget, focus your money on one or two things and not on a whole area....that way, you can put more time, money, and effort in one or two things instead of having to disperse your time, money, effort...hope i'm making sense.
Pheneix and WDWFREAK, i COMPLETELY agree that Disney is ALL about exceding expectations...not meeting them. ANYONE can meet expectations, but few can excede them. and we've all come to higher our expectations for Disney because we all know that they're way above average...which is why i think some of us are making a fuss about this instead of liking just anything Disney feeds to us just because it's in Disney World....i think sometimes some people have the idea that 'Disney don't do no wrong'...i used to think this way, but recently i've come to realize that YES they can...and they have, several times. i don't know how i got off on that, but anyway...
personally, though, i really really loved the castle cake. i thought it was beautiful! and it was one of the best moves Disney has made during a celebration...and what i mean by this is that they made the change temporary....i don't know why Disney seems to think their more recent celebration changes have to be permanent. but tacky is NOT a word i would use to describe the castle cake...the Mickey hand and wand over SSE, however, is a different story.
*phew* ok, for now i'm done...this post has become a lot longer than i expected it to be. :)

Dizknee Phreak...you summed it up...I don't have anything more to say on the subject! Good analysis!

and Beastly Kingdom was a proposed land based on mythological creatures that had originally been planned for the opening of Animal Kingdom but got cut due to time and money. (If you look at the Animal Kingdom logo you will notice that a dragon is front and center) Beastly Kingdom is still a rumor (as far as I know...but I have a feeling other people on these forums may know MORE about this than I do)

The average guest was complaining that there had not been anything new in this new park for three years. Beastlie could not open until at LEAST early 2005...it would look VERY bad if a new park got a new area one year after opening and then nothing else for six years...also, if you only think disney plopped a queue line on this coaster and that was it, then it is obvious to me that you have yet to ride this coaster.

I took a spin on it over Memorial Day weekend. I still think Disney only dropped a queue line on it with a few cardboard- sorry, plastic cutouts.

you forgot that they themed the cars...oh, and that this entire thing was special ordered because each track has more cars that normal--and the track has more metalwork than normal--it's all superfluous, but meant to make it look more like a carnival coaster with tons of metalwork.

>>>you forgot that they themed the cars<<<

The standard issue cars from Reverchon are themed. Disney added a few more decals and a different paint job. Though there are size constraints on PW, they are nothing like the theming on the trains in RnRC (one of the ride's strongest points).

>>>entire thing was special ordered because each track has more cars that normal<<<

Nope, it is the standard model from Reverchon. Yes, there are more cars than normal, and that was a good decision, but there was nothing special about the coaster itself.

>>>it's all superfluous, but meant to make it look more like a carnival coaster with tons of metalwork<<<

Now that is an amazing design by WDI! :)
