Chatroom

I was just thinking about the chatroom and it really isnt getting the attention it deserves. I know you dont find out how many people are in the room until you click on chatroom. Is there anyway you could put on the forum page how may people are in the room without having to click on it. Alot of people are lazy and dont wanna click on to see if theres anybody there. So you might get more people in this way if we could see how many people there are without having to click on the chatroom button. damn i'm tired now lol

I would love to do what you are suggesting.

Unfortunately, the Chat Room is a separate system to the forum - so neither knows what the other is doing. So there is no way to transplant the user information from one, to the other. ... at the moment anyway....

I thought I would ask. lol what about when somebody gets in the chatroom it sends a email back to us letting us know whos in it lol yeah that would be totally lazy. But probaly not possible casue u said it was to diffrent things. lol

Another point, Steve--and this isn't meant as a criticism-- is that the new chatroom is much slower than the one that was here in July...not the one with witches, but the first one. This one is runs much more slowly, and the lag time creates some confusion...

We used to do that--Marky is a great organizer. Unfortunately this past week has made Disney a long way from many of our minds, even as we have been drawn closer together...

Well I would be happy to set dates for chats...........I think a better idea would be to just have like a friday nite chat or something. That way it's always the same day......ya know? For all our wdwmagic friends in the uk we could set up chats for times more in the afternoon which would be evening there.......right? Those are just a couple ideas.........

Naw, I'm sure they don't mind being up till 2 or 3 in the morning to talk to us. Well, I know there are some of us that don't mind chatting that late.

I am aware that the current Chat Room does not perform very well. I am always looking for alternatives, but unfortunately Chat Room Servers are extremely expensive. $3000 upwards appears to be the going rate. I dont want to use a shared system like we had before, based on security and invasion problems. Rest assured though, I know the current system sucks, and I am looking to improve things

Hey Steve, the chatroom works ok, we where just a little spoilt by the last one. I for one enjoyed sharing with those strange guys with the weird names they where quite amusing!

I for one have no problem waiting up half the night to talk to my American Buddies especially on a Friday or Saturday, maybe I'm just sad and lonely !!! But the gang always cheer me up
