Now, What About That 'Chronicles of Narnia' Movie? (which is disney..)

Just from the preview alone, I can tell it's going to be a wildy imaginative movie. Movies like the original Willa Wonka, and Wizard of Oz have always been some of my favorites. The kind that you know are made for children but always have that darker twist to them. Just a certain creepiness, and this trailer definately proved that.

This i believe is supost to be closer to the novel.... so it is more intense... and perhaps Danny Elfman rewrote the Ompa song...... (imagine a rap version  )

After watching the trailer a few more times, I noticed they spelled Ronald Dahl's name wrong in the credits. It's spelled "Roald Dahl".

After reading around some more, I found his name is spelled "Ronald" and "Roald". Does anyone know his real name?

As Og said, it is Roald. But I guess that some American corporate suits decided that the American audiences/readers would not "identify" with Roald and decided to change it to Ronald due to the success of a certain burger chain symbol.

Does anyone else think that in this new Movie, Willy Wonka looks like that bloke who enjoys dressing up as Peter Pan and assorted fairies?

Thread drift - how come the auto censor lets us use the short version of "William", but it wigs out when you try to use the short version of "Richard"?

OMG OMG thank you for posting this! I've been drooling over this movie ever since I first saw the teaser poster for it! I adore Tim Burton and I think he is perfect to direct this insane movie! And of course with the acting of Johnny Depp and the music of Danny Elfman... ahhhhh I'm just so excited!!!

:sohappy:

" Chewing Gum is really gross...
Chewing Gum I hate the most!"

I'm so incredibly excited about this movie! I was so upset that I'll be in Greece when it premires on July 15th... I guess I'll have to watch it all the way on the 19th or 20th... *sigh*

I don't think the trailers look THAT bad. At least they're much better then the teasers! Teasers drive me crazy... especially when they contain Johnny Depp. Burton is a genuis, so I have high hopes that this film will turn out fantastic (albeit creepy). And Johnny is so versitile, and Willy Wonka certainly is a strange character... he'll do fabulous!

AND the day AFTER Charlie and the Chocolate Factory comes out, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince comes out! :sohappy:

OMG, I can honestly say hat I am looking forward to this movie.

The first time I saw the trailer, these lines got me:

"Chewing gum is really gross, chewing gum I hate the must"

Depp's new look...friggin' hilarious...doesn't really look like him. Actually, looks more like a young "matilda". But I gotta say, him in that outfit...he can make ANYTHING look sexy.

I figure that b/c it is a Tim Burton movie, it's going to be WAY different than the original..or the remake at that. Remember, this is a remake of a remake. ;)
I think the new oompa loompa's are so adorable, and the theme song is just hilarious.
The second time I saw the extended trailer, when i first saw the dancing/talking doll thingy, I immediatelly thought, "Small world much?" lol
I'm just glad that Elfman is doing the music...I loved him in "Nightmare b-4 X-mas" and I can't wait to buy this soundtrack.
Ironic that this comes out, Harry Potter comes out, and then the "Corpse Bride" by Burton staring Depp comes out later on, innit?
I cannot wait.

From what I heard, this version will follow the original book more closely, whereas the Gene Wilder version that we're all familliar with took a different and more comical path.

But I don't know... it's been more than 15 years since I read the book last...

I just went back and read the book again recently. There are a few differences of course and some things that you don't get to see. One of the big differences is what happens to Veruca Salt. In the old version of the movie, you get the room with the geese laying golden eggs. In the book, it is a room of squirrels going through all the nuts to make sure they are good or bad. That would have been very difficult to do back in the early 70s, but now it's alot easier to pull off.

One thing I love, is that this movie is rated PG for "Quirky situations, Action and Mild Language." I think that's the first time I've seen a rating for "Quirky situations."
