Characters at Waterparks?

Apparently some people get a little upset when I talk about my job here so I'll try not to say too much but Goofy is at Blizzard Beach in his extremely hot standard costume. Kids are constantly coming up to him asking him why he doesn't have a bathing suit and why he has to wear that sweater.

Lilo and Stitch are at Typhoon Lagoon. Used to be Mickey from what I hear but not anymore.

Goofy was making regular appearances at Blizzard Beach on May 18th.

Lilo and Stitch were playing in the sand making "castles" with children at Typhoon Lagoon in the later afternoon.


And the meets were nice b/c they were spontaneous and how character encounters should be. No lines, no characters standing still in one spot. They were meandering through the parks, giving hi fives, and playing in the sand. It was great.

Exactly, that's what I thought was so cool. I had no idea there were characters in the water parks, then my girlfriend went to go wash her hands and all the sudden I feel somebody tap me on the shoulder and it's Stitch, after that Lilo picked a flower for one of the girls working at the hair beading station and put one in the girls hair, and one in hers. My girlfriend came back and asked if anything was going on because I had a pretty big grin on my face and she didn't believe what I said.

My sister and I went to Typhoon Lagoon last week and this week too. Lilo and Stitch have been at Typhoon Lagoon and Occasionally Chip and Dale will be at TL in their cute swim trunks!

As for Blizzard Beach, I know Goofy and Max have been visiting there recently

As for Laguna Gator (Typhoon Lagoon) and Ice Gator (Blizzard Beach) I haven't heard about them visiting the water parks anytime soon, but my sis and I are going to Blizzard Beach tomorrow, so if I hear or see anything i'll be sure to post it!

This is going to be quite the thread bump, but has anyone heard anything more about Lagoona Gator (or Ice Gator) appearing at the water parks again?

It seemed like Typhoon Lagoon somewhat-abandoned Lagoona Gator as a mascot for a while (only vague references and the sand sculpture of him in the parks), but he is on the current refillable mug, so maybe they are using him sparsely.

I think it is very cool that the characters can go swimming WITH YOU!!! Wonder how Disney does that!

I was there about a month ago and they had Lilo and Stitch at Typhoon Lagoon.. not sure about Blizzard Beach.

This is what I fear is happening with both of the characters. I seem to recall reading a while back that they weren’t recognizable by most guests, so Disney was looking to scale them back. It would seem that there is another option—to tie them in better with the story, and really put them “out there” to make them the face of the park. I think it would be easier to drop Lagoona Gator at this point since he (at least to me) seems to appear less around the park. Both are on the refillable mugs currently, but it seems many Ice Gator items that were once sold at Blizzard Beach are now gone (although this could be part of the greater trend of homogenized merchandise, as it doesn’t seem though nearly as much BB merchandise in general is available at BB as once was).

This is another thing that makes me wonder. I saw Stitch last year at the water park. It seems the other reasons aren’t valid for not having the Gators out if they can have other characters out. It’s not like there’s anything unique to the costumes that make the Gators worse to wear…is there? Seems to corroborate the idea that the Gators are being phased out. I hope that’s not the case. Maybe Drew can chime in to state what he knows about this…
