Heard something interesting about the proposed beer garden. I still have a few more people to check with, but there may be good news.
Slightly off topic, but can I say how I love the fact that, as much as I want to know what you heard, you (and @marni1971, @MansionButler84, @peter11435, etc) verify things with multiple sources before posting a rumor.

Unlike some other sites and sources.

The classic Spirit quote applies: "There are two kinds of WDW fans. Those who know EPCOT Center, and those who don't".

The years have turned into decades, 1982 is a long time ago, and the above is not a reproach. The former are like Tolkien's Elves, we inevitably diminish and will soon sail to the west. We take with us a memory, eyes that have seen magic and beauty beyond the comprehension of those that will take our place, for this magic no longer forms part of this World.

I would argue that there are two more: Those who enjoy it for what it is, and those who and moan because it's not what it was in 1982.

For the record, I'm not some casual fan. I'm a DVC member and annual passholder. I live about 2 and a half hours from WDW and go roughly 20 days per year. I'm going to miss the fountain and there are other things that I wish were still around. But I'm not going to let it make me bitter like the rest of you all and complain all day.

Mods: Please delete my account. It's time I found a place where people aren't still living in 1982.

It seems like EPCOT is becoming one giant food and beverage park with a tiny amount of rides thrown in there.
To me, the whole future world half of the park is being scraped and replaced as a huge entrance que for Showcase.
First TDO didn’t make the city Walt envisioned, instead opening a park to make money off of glorified previews of corporate products and now that’s being thrown away for more beer and places to relieve
Yourself of said beer. Will they wait 5 years to tear down Seas and Land, or will they just shutter those and let them rot for 10?
I am not a fan of any of the communicore exhibits, with exception of spaceship earth, but really, a bid grassy knoll and a beer garden?!?
Talk about lazy and cheap.

I'm not one to criticize Disney too much (although they've been making some boneheaded decisions as of late), but what they are doing to Epcot is awful, shortsighted, and stupid. Ruining the bones of a great park to no real benefit.

They could have done something that appealed to contemporary audiences, fit within the theme of the park, and respected its history and past, and paid homage to it while updating it for the 21st century. But instead they decided to tear it all down.

Taken out of context, if you ask someone that there's a futuristic park who's main buildings haven't changed in 40 years, do you think it would be a good idea to update them to something more contemporary....the answer from most people would probably be "yes". 40 years is a LONG time.

In other words, we don't know yet what they're going to build to appeal to contemporary audiences.
