Character Scenario

Ok so you've just been appointed as WDW's Character director.... You have to set up Character meet and greets/character dining all around the Walt Disney World Resort property... What characters would you place where and why? (This is not limited to only parks, resorts can be character hot spots as well!)

Interesting topic! I think this is something that is already done very well though, so I don't have much input - except for a couple things. I do wish you saw more characters simply "mingling" in the parks as opposed to being constantly posted at a location. I understand the reason for it - but I miss being able to just bump into characters. And the only other place I miss a character presence is at the water parks. I see Goofy and Lilo periodically, but I would like to see more "Disney" in the water parks.

I would definitly do something with Tiana at the port orleans resort or maybe build a new restaraunt called tiana's place either at Downtown disney or around the riverboat in MK. Also, they need to do something with the villians besides just the halloween show. Maybe a place something like they have in the Shrek movies where all the storybook villians hang out.

I would do a Character-pa-looza. It would be a massive Meet n Greet for maybe a day or even a weekend. As many characters as possible would be out at the same time throughout the parks and resorts for everyone to meet.

I would like more characters just out ya know? Like I'd definitely have Brer Bear, Fox, and Rabbit out mingling around Splash Mountain more... Another idea would be having more characters mingling at resorts as well like Lilo & Stitch do at the Polynesian, I could see meet and greets at Pop Century/Art of Animation, like Baloo and Rodger Rabbit by their giant statues....

I agree. The last few times we visited, I very rarely saw the characters out. I think we saw Belle and Beast the most by France in EPCOT, but at MK I don't recall seeing them much, except for the parade. With ToonTown demolished I hope that the core characters will be out and about so that we can get some nice photos.

As for who I'd like to see at a character breakfast - how about MRS NESBIT? :ROFLOL: By far my favorite...

One place I would make sure I had a lot of characters is definetly Fantasyland... Thats where most of the character oriented rides and attractions are in the MK... Characters from Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Pooh, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid should be out and I think Donald should appear at Philharmagic... There's such a shortage of characters now a days... :(

Love this idea! Also, they could have mystery meet-n-greets inside buildings...you can tell me where they might go.

I would put characters by their respective rides as well. I rarely see the Peter pan characters out and thats one of disney's best movies. Also I would put a longer parade in so all of the charecters who don't have rides could be seen as well and the characters would have a big meet and greet after the parade

I love how in EPCOT there are specific characters in specific lands so we knew where and when to steer my kids to get that; OH MY there is Mulan; moment.

I love the Villains idea - my most favorite meet and greet of all time was Lady Tremaine and the Stepsisters in the former Belle Story place near the Castle. They were hands down the best characters I have ever seen! Bring on the villains!!

I would love to see characters at resorts for guests only at the resort, and i mean all resorts!!!!!!! A two hour get along two or three times a week for every resort! Not breakfast or dinner, just a good time at the pool. A specialtreat for those who stay on site!!!

I remember during my first trip at Disney World back in 1986, there were tons of characters that walked around during the early morning hours when the park just opened. I also remember that after one of the the shows at the castle a whole grab bag of characters exited the castle for a massive Meet N' Greet.

If I was character director, I would Do almost exactly what I saw back when I was 5. I would send more out and in shifts at various meet greet spots. Have characters related to the rides and attractions posted near the rides at certain times with a tad spike in appearance time and during the last Castle show of the day I would send a whole grab bag of characters out for some more meet and greet. And yes more frequency of villian appearances.
