I have a feeling that this could be illegal/stolen costumes. It appears that Disney has nothing to do with this and I don't know of how many people have complete costumes of characters.

Please don't think this is a really dumb question....

Why would those costumes be WORTH $50,000? I mean, they are fabulous and all, but 50 grand?

I was thinking the same Diva....ugh...50k?!....thats half a house... Not worth it... I am sure you can go to a costume designer and get it made for 2k a piece...if a person really wanted one....

Plus the seller looks shifty... his eBay account is new... and these could be stolen or something as Turkey leg boy said....

I do agree...

I am still a bit troubled about the asking price though - No matter where the costumes came from...50 grand???

That just disturbs me

look at the seller name ... batmannewjersey , Location monmouth junction, new jersey , Country/Region United States /New York. last time i checked new jersey is not in new york. And why does he/she have no feedback? sounds fishy to me

Do you know how much people will pay to have Mickey, live at special events? I worked for Special Events at DL for several years, they turned down events all the time.

Disney obviously would never ever sell these costumes, so they must have been stolen.

ahh... come on... I was trying to scrape up the $50K... I just want the heads for my trophy room... ;)

But this is seriously wrong. And based off of the fact that they are complete costumes, there's no way that it was a 1-person task of getting those things off-property. the asking price probably hasa partial kick to a few other people who might still be employed at one of the parks.
Just based off of the age of the costumes one would have to figure that they were back in some warehouse... and covered in enough dust to choke a few dozen gators.

Oh well... we'll have to see what Disney does about this one, if anything. They've got what? 23 hours left on the auction? And it's been on there for nearly a week now without anyone saying anything? And this seller is either a pro and knows what he/she is doing or just plain stupid to think they can get away with it.
Money order or cashiers check only? Only the buyer would know the "true identity" of batmannewjersey if there isn't a "psuedo-company name" given instead of one's true name.

Yeah... New Jersey/New York.

They don't check your liscence when you open a Ebay account ((or start a WDWmagic account) not that they should)So these could be phoney addresses. But if I were dodging the authorities... I wouldn't state my actual address.

Thefts aren't that uncommon.

There was one Zoo guy that I worked several special events with, and over a year was systematically, stealing Beast parts (gloves, shoes, cape) the costume department was quietly documenting the pieces each time, after a couple months, Supervisors alerted the authorities and got a search warrant to search his house. Where they found almost a complete Beast and several other character parts.

There was another parade guy that tried walking off property with a $50k sequined suit worn by Mickey in a USA themed day parade. When he got to the guard house, he tried to explain that he made it. Needless to say he was arrested.

we need to have a Zoo Crew mixer... lol. New School/Old School Zoo Crew from all over the world! Hell... Disney has character departments in the most random places... they have one in San Juan, NYC, Mexico City, and others... they used to have one in Chicago for Disneyquest, but that one is gone now.

I'm just in shock... 3 completes
