He didn’t, but Iger did try to sell off Disneyland and Walt Disney World.Well... up until now Donn Tatum was the worst CEO. He almost sold off the company Walt built.
Iger advocated for Chapek. Can't wait for people to start talking about how Iger wasn't that bad.
Because he isn't. And Chapek is.
Why? He has no operational experience? Please let Rohde be in charge of Parks
Disney spent years and billions trying to avoid building attractions and facilities. They ran out of ideas. Chapek didn’t come in and reverse course, he didn’t fight for investment in the parks. He accepted that MyMagic+ had failedUnder Chapek, the parks are investing massively in new projects. Quite frankly, the reasons to hate Chapek are: (1) more IP and (2) price increases. But capital investment is quite strong. Stronger than it has been in decades.
Disney Is Spending More on Theme Parks Than It Did on Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm Combined (Published 2018)
The company is spending billions to supercharge its theme park division, which has emerged as a surprisingly strong moneymaker.nyti.ms
It doesn't exactly take a brainiac to see that. It just proves that Staggs was more in touch with guests' desires than Jay Rasulo. Not exactly a high bar.
Was there some clause put into the company bylaws under Eisner that every CEO must be named Bob?
Before I make any judgement as to whether Chapek will make a good CEO, I'm going to wait to see who he nominates to become the new head of DPEP. For me, that will be a good indicator. For a vibrant company...the criteria can not be “other people did worse”
It has to be “who is the best to maximize growth/yield and provide stability”
That isn’t Chapek.
I'm sure Chapek's yearly salary and bonus as the new CEO will pale in comparison to Iger when Iger was CEO.A current CEO reporting to someone technically below him??
Has this ever happened before?
That's so true.I made a few phone calls and heard so many different rumors that it’s not worth posting them. The truth may eventually come out.

Why? It’s only something acknowledged by a few Disney fans.

Well when you put it that way...We'll simply have to agree to disagree on this. I think it'd be a PR nightmare for Iger. "You tried to sell Disneyland to Saudi Arabia?" Come on, it'd kill the guy IMO.
Bob I. remaining as an executive means this is essentially a probationary period for Chapek. If things go to hell they can re-instate Iger as Interim CEO while conducting an external search.
I mean, a lot of PACs would be picking up on that though. Keep that in mean. We'll simply have to agree to disagree on this. I think it'd be a PR nightmare for Iger. "You tried to sell Disneyland to Saudi Arabia?" Come on, it'd kill the guy IMO.

Was that prince ever a legitimate option, or was that only a rumor?
