I cant help but think, sadly, that whoever it is will be recommended by Chapek and come from his team, so he can have a yes man in charge and henchman to do what he wants at the parks.

Long ago, I accepted the company was no longer Walt’s vision. I just didn’t think I’d see it become the next Saban, AOL Time Warner, or NBC-Universal — a meaningless conglomerate only out for a quick buck. Yet today it’s official.

DCA wasn’t cheap either. But when you have one coaster worth nearly half a billion you have to question where is the money going and is it being well spent.
We'll have to wait and find out I suppose. From a business perspective, I suspect having a brand new thrill ride at EPCOT will drive a lot of attendance. Certainly I think it's a better investment than spending over a billion on MyMagic+. We also know that WDI's costs have been quite high for much longer than Chapek's tenure.
Just. No. They're investing in the parks because they have to. Cutting hours and spreading budget is Chapek's deal.
I don't think every Chapek decision has been the best. But you'll have to be more specific. Are Chapek's decisions worse than those under Staggs? Or plenty of other past P&R chairs?

Currently taking bets on how long until the Magic Kingdom is renamed Pixar Park.

Thankfully (and it's saying something that I'm taking your playful remark half-seriously, times being what they are), there's little danger of that. The Magic Kingdom is still the most popular park of all, and the Walt Disney Animation Studio is doing as well as or better than Pixar. Thank god for Frozen, Wreck-It-Ralph and Zootopia, or what you say might have some teeth in it...

For a vibrant company...the criteria can not be “other people did worse”

It has to be “who is the best to maximize growth/yield and provide stability”

That sn’t chapek.

The more I think about how this went down...the more credence it leads to some type of “Lasseter” type event sequence.

Get Ronan farrow on this!!🤪

For whatever other faults he may have had, we can at least be grateful to Staggs for pointing out that spending millions on overhauling Fantasyland just to add some fancy princess meet and greets was not the greatest use of resources.
It doesn't exactly take a brainiac to see that. It just proves that Staggs was more in touch with guests' desires than Jay Rasulo. Not exactly a high bar.

A current CEO reporting to someone technically below him??

Has this ever happened before?
Iger himself said "I have one direct report and that is Bob (Chapek)" on CNBC.

Makes sense. Every other C-level exec reports to Chapek. Chapek goes to Iger still.

Still astounding to me that Kevin Mayer didn’t get the spot.

Was the "More timless, more Disney" Iger's slogan or Chapeks? Because I wonder what Chapek's slogan/catchphrase for the parks will be?
