I'm not. He never wanted to leave in the first place, but he knew things would fall apart with Covid and didn't want his name attached (hence why he suddenly bailed, but tried to stay in power without having his name attached). Heck, he basically ran the coo to oust Chapek. The problem is he thought he could step right back in, everything would be fixed with his name there, and he would be the hero that saved Disney. Now that it didn't happen, he extended his stay to try to make it so. I'll be surprised if he leaves in 2026. I think he's going to want to stay through his $60 billion 10 years so that he can try to say how he saved the parks and Disney. The ONLY way I think that changes is if Disney stock skyrockets, the movies take off again, and the perception of Disney goes through the roof. Who knows, maybe he's REALLY telling the truth this time, but I don't buy it til I see it.
He's such a coward.

One thing we know though. He loves power and attention. I don't think he's leaving until they drag him out.

These are just two examples, but it’s so easy to ascribe motives with such certainty to people we don’t even know as if they are facts.

Well the first one is easy for sure. You'd have to make up a conspiracy theory for that NOT to be true.

Covid had already closed SDL and was spreading wildly. And then as chairman of the board he picked, he gave himself a new job with a title that superceded the CEO he also picked.

Bob Iger will not leave. There is a reason why there has never been a properly groomed sucessor to Iger....because he refused to allow anybody to get close enough to replace him. The Board consists of mostly Iger loyalists and this "sucessor" problem that Disney has is 100% by design.

Iger will not leave unless he is forced out by a security escort and has his access badge disabled and his office locks replaced. (Yes, the famous bathroom shower office that Iger refusrd to turn over to Chepek)
B.I. will drag, stall and slow walk anything and everything that will move him out the door. He needs to be unceremoniously tossed out the door with all accesses terminated.

He's got some ground to cover to make up paper losses. Like all of us investing in the markets see our net worth go up and down so has Iger's numbers. At one time he was near worth $1B and his has shrunk down to $350M net worth.
Only $350M? What is he going to do? I suspect, deep down in his mind, he is saying to him self, I will try to right this ship but in any event I am filthy rich and I can simply move on and do whatever I want, and he can always blame Chapek. Sometimes I think he appointed Chapek so he had a scapegoat.

Sure Iger has his legacy at stake, but that’s not real, and there are folks that love him and will always love him and he has money for multiple lifetimes, so Iger as NO REAL SKIN IN THE GAME!

And as time passes, folks will see him in a better light like they do Eisner.

And he knows this

Iger is a picture of health and wealth. 45 min on the Versa climber at 430am daily is not for the faint of heart. He looks like incredible shape for age 72.

not sure what good health has to do with it tbh It's impressive what he can do for his age, but that doesn't mean he's running Disney well.

It's very harsh to blame the current mess on Iger. Most of these movies may well not have even been green lit by him, or even had the influence of his expertise.

I'll give it another year or two to see what happens.

Yep, Eisner was hated while as CEO, Roy Disney helped push him out and now some feel they wish Eisner was back. Same scenario with Iger post 2026. One can catch Iger in his super yacht.

Iger was the very few that green lit Black Panther. That was a great call.

Disney is Bob Iger's company and the board is stacked with his people. Iger will fight to the death and will block or fire anybody that goes against him. This man has dug himself in like a tick deep inside a dog's ear.

If this man ever gets ousted...it will be a very ugly event. He's not letting anybody take his company from him.
