Yeah, I knew he stepped down as exec chair at the end of 2021, but for some reason I thought he kept a board seat.
Nope - at the end of the run he was out entirely... fully 'retired' which is when he finally had the gloves off to start making critical comments that would have contradicted what the company was doing.

A classic Disney villain laugh accompanied my seeing this photo.

Now Bob Iger confirms he will leave again for real in 2026, three years from now.

So maybe things will change in three or so years?

That said, Iger refuses to sell any of the Disney owned networks.

Bob Iger will not leave. There is a reason why there has never been a properly groomed sucessor to Iger....because he refused to allow anybody to get close enough to replace him. The Board consists of mostly Iger loyalists and this "sucessor" problem that Disney has is 100% by design.

Iger will not leave unless he is forced out by a security escort and has his access badge disabled and his office locks replaced. (Yes, the famous bathroom shower office that Iger refusrd to turn over to Chepek)

The man is going down with his ship, and we're the passengers.

He's such a con artist.

I mean Iger isn't immortal, he's gonna leave one way or another. So, you essentially think Iger is lying when he says he's leaving for real in 2026?

How many times has Iger definitely, absolutely 100% been going to retire before he extends his contract again? He really has become Palpatine at this point reluctantly reforming Disney into his galactic empire for safe and secure investments!

I don’t buy the backtracking on selling ABC either, its taken far too long to deny. More likely no one wanted to pay the price they wanted.

Only way he leaves of his own free will is either another covid, sell out to a tech co, or he still thinks he can be president in 2028!

He will be 75 in 2026, I’m amazed he agreed to come back at all. Hundreds of millions in the bank with no time to enjoy it, what a waste. His kids will probably have fun with it at least.

I'm not. He never wanted to leave in the first place, but he knew things would fall apart with Covid and didn't want his name attached (hence why he suddenly bailed, but tried to stay in power without having his name attached). Heck, he basically ran the coo to oust Chapek. The problem is he thought he could step right back in, everything would be fixed with his name there, and he would be the hero that saved Disney. Now that it didn't happen, he extended his stay to try to make it so. I'll be surprised if he leaves in 2026. I think he's going to want to stay through his $60 billion 10 years so that he can try to say how he saved the parks and Disney. The ONLY way I think that changes is if Disney stock skyrockets, the movies take off again, and the perception of Disney goes through the roof. Who knows, maybe he's REALLY telling the truth this time, but I don't buy it til I see it.
