See how much Netflix fell from the middle of 2021 to the end of 2022? That happened because they lost a significant number of subscribers over 2 quarters. But, that bleeding stopped and they got back in the black, and so their stock went up.

Disney's slump is because Wall Street isn't getting dividends and they're no longer patiently waiting for D+ to be in the black in 2024. But once D+ is in the black and DIS is paying dividends, it should see the same rally that Netflix experienced.
1) I do not share your optimism that D+ will be in the black in 2024.

2) where is the dividend? Bob promised one.

I hope so…
…cause that means it will continue to drop and he will be publicly FIRED sooner than later.

Which is what is gonna have to happen. That WSJ article from a few days ago wasn’t out of nowhere. Big money gets it’s word out when they want to.
I saw this photo and it made me laugh as I thought of you and the starcruiser...

“In May”
Didn't he announce that dividends would come back by the end of the calendar year in the Q1 shareholders meeting in Feb? Also, hasn't Disney historically done the dividends in December before moving to semi-annual dividends in July and December? My money is that the dividend returns December.

ETA: This was something quick I found with Iger's exact remarks:

Oh that’s the ransom he paid to get them to drop the proxy fight…no doubt.

But it’s not “warranted” at all. He’s running the business worse that chapek at this point. He’ll be striping talent and operational segments down to a flying gas can and then trying to repackage/resell the same products for even more.

We already see what that has done…in parks notably…

It’s just bad management. He’s trying to save his “legacy” in his mind and Wall Street isn’t going along with it anymore.

The fun is just starting

I hate to be this way, but I wish this drop kept going and he is ousted. My fear though remains they don't have a replacement ready, and that won't then fix all the issues.

They simply have to reduce spend in Movies - and focus on parks and getting the equation correct. Otherwise its just rinse and repeat

Pretty sure when i looked on bloomberg at work its set for 22 cents in December. Far cry from the 80+ cents it was prior…

This is what the “real” fans want…its hinted at…it’s whispered…it’s discussed in the private messages here ALOT.

Fans don’t want everything wrecked. And the board and C-Suite aren’t protecting the assets in this evolving time.

Personality Cults are always a mistake. Too many examples to even count. This is the latest.

All of Disneys products are failing…

…but sure…let’s keep reading the 2019 quarter call transcripts over and over again…

And of course…people are egged on by pure stupidity such as this:

Don’t worry, Snow not-White and the 7 diverse homeless looking people movie will bring Disney back next year! 👀

It's that thin at 1300?. Did it thin out further around 1600-1700 when it started to get really hot out?
The “it’s hot” argument would work much better if the parks were 85% local each day…when at most its 10-20%.

I bet it’s actually up because word is on the street that “ding, Dong…the crowds are dead” is out.

I have no reason to doubt these photos based on the months of reports and my own eyes over a holiday weekend

Their bookings dropped massively last year. If you know how the game is played…that is the only explanation that fits.

Which means chapek and McCarthy knew…which means the board knew…which means their puppet master Iger knew…

And he’s been quiet because he can’t use the narrative he would have chosen since coming back.

This is exactly the result of the guest population model Iger wanted. The model of getting rid of the undesirable day trippers and focusing on the high spending once and done. We are now seeing there is not the population of high spending once and dones to keep the park filled. Seems to be WDW needs to go to a loyalty type program that rewards for the moderate spending return visitor population and augment with the high spending once and done. WDW needs to focus on the middle of the population of the bell curve not the right side tail.

Keeping the park filled is not the objective. Keeping revenues high is the objective.

How are park revenues doing right now?
