Changes to The Great Movie Ride!!!!

I've always had the gangster each time. The next I get the gangster I swear I'm gonna hop off the ride at the "gemstone" stop and say "I saw it first!" and run up there.

Bank Explosion

A few years ago I went to MGM with family and my nephew, who is old enough to know what is what, was very upset when the cowboy ran into the bank and it exploded.

He's dead, he blew up.

I had to explain to him that it wasn't real and it was an act and part of the show.

He understood but was still scared. He was fine when the cowboy came back in the indy scene(sorry if I ruined it for you others).

We laugh about this now.

It doesn't matter if the lead cars have a male or female CM... I've seen it both ways, and it's always funny to see the witch calling the male CM "my pretty".

And from what I know, the speed is controlled from a central location, and if one car is creeping up on another too quickly, it will move at a slower pace (the one I was in came to a dead stop somewhere and it really freaked me out. I thought the ride went down. It took the CM by surprise too)

Too bad you live in Chicago and don't know any of the ride ops from the attraction. The CMs do control the speed themselves. Once a vehicle left early and the other left late at the wrong speed at the end of the finale and the vehicle crashed at the loading dock - destroying part of it.

If there is a female, she will have the lead car, i realize this doesn't always happen. Sorry if i was vague.

On my recent trip the cowboys kidnapped us! I preferred this version to the gangster one which i had already seen 4 times b4. I just thought that they had changed the ride i did not realise that each car gets a different scene. Thanx 4 clearing that up!!!!!

Ask a CM!

If you prefer to see the gangster scene or the cowboy (cowgirl) scene, just ask a CM and they will put you in the right car. Also, the bank exploded 2 weeks ago. I suppose that they have to shut that special effect down periodically for safety checks.

it's all in the queue.....

I don't know how they do it during the slow time, but during peak times the easiest way to get front car or back car is when you walk in to the queue. I might be off but if I recall correctly if you go in the queue closest to the wall once you enter the "movie" room you will be in the front car and if you take the other one you will be in the back. The first time I had the chance to see the GMR I was in that room forever and figured it all out. Some times they might send you to a diffrent car but most of the time they do it that way.

Does the first car go thru the Alien Scene any faster than the second?? I always seem to get this thing coming right for me and we always seem to stop right there!!! I HATE that Alien!!
