ROFL!

I vote Bill Shatner! He actually, come to think of it, would a fine narrator make.

"But will...these seemingly infinite communications...become...a...flood...of...electronic...babble?..."

(by the by, the "..." represent dramatic pauses, and the italicized represent dramatic stresses)
...and you can chose your own Disney Resort at Priceline for hundreds less than...

Please excuse my ignorance and laziness, but...

The last time that I was on Spaceship Earth (May, 2001), the city model at the top of the attraction was dark. I didn't read all of this thread to see if it's mentioned here (ignorance) and I didn't do a search (laziness). What has become of that aspect of the attraction?

the city model is actually close to the bottom of the attraction at the end (right before the finale corridor). If it was dark at the time of your visit, it was probably just broke, cause it's there and workin' now.

Thanks for the info on the city. From what I recall though, I knew that it was near the end of the ride, but I had always thought that it was at the top of the attraction.

There is an incline to reach the city, then a decline afterwards. Also, I thought that while circling the city, if you look up you could make out the inside of the the top of the sphere.

I certainly could be wrong, I'm just going from memory.

Maybe it IS me, but I could swear that at the top of it's ascent the ride encircled a large model of a futuristic city. The ride then began it's descent back towards the unloading/loading area.

The last time that I was there was '01, and this area was dark. The time before that was '99, and I believe that it was functional then.

Could I be confusing Spaceship Earth with Horizons? I don't remember much about Horizons, but I did ride it in '86 and (I believe) '93. I'm not quite sure when it closed.

I'm sure that there are many here that know for certain.

The current cityscape (abstract version of San Fransisco, on a waterfront with a bridge and lit by lasers) is halfway down the return to earth; it is positioned on the level between the 2 backwards descent loops which wrap around the centre of the building inside of the show scene spiral.

Scott M...I'm wondering if your thinking of the very large model city from the World of Motion. I guess you could say World of Motion's climax involved the speed tunnels and then your vehicle turned toward the city, which was full of changing lights in it's many prism-like buildings with lights resembling cars traveling on numerous highways, your vehicle continued to face the city as you cured down from the above level to ground floor and the unloading area.

Your memories are unbelievable! Certainly much greater than my own.

Since I had not been on Spaceship Earth since '01, and my memories of Horizons and World of Motion are foggy (to say the least) and could not be reinforced, I had been confusing the different aspects of the 3 attractions.

Thanks for the info everyone. This is quite a forum!
