Changes to bus transportation for the water parks begins this weekend

Really one of the biggest hurdles for the system... Streamlining that or replacing it is mandatory for significant change imo
If Disney truly wants to be a "Luxury " destination, then those staying at Luxury Hotel should get the luxury transportation....Limousines or at the very least private luxury buses.

Those staying at the Moderate Hotels will get the standard unwashed bus.

Then the lowly Value Motels ...those people must fend for themselves....Bring your own transportation, call a Taxi, or hitchhike to your final destination.

Problem solved.

This seems really annoying.

How do they go about notifying guests about stuff like this? as most guests dont read it here on the forums

and it would really upset me to wait out at the bus stops then a half hour later wonder why the bus never came

I would imagine that most guests, when noticing that there were no signs for the water parks at the bus stops, would inquire.

Other guests would do their homework and find out that way.

And then others, that had no preconceived notion of how they were to arrive, would simply inquire at the front desk.

I completely disagree. I always thought it was an inconvenience when going to DS to go to Typhoon Lagoon first or stop at Blizzard Beach on the way to AK. In all my travels, I cannot remember a single instance where someone got off the bus to one of the water parks early in the morning. I think it is a BETTER guest experience to skip those stops for people going to DS and AK.

if the busses for disney springs were stopping at typhoon first, then this kinda makes sense

as it kinda defeats the purpose spending millions to build bus express lanes if your then going to make a stop,

its not the stop itself that takes the time, but it would mean the bus stopping for two extra traffic light cycles

They probably won't. At least not directly. The resort bus will pull up and it will say both AK and BB. When the bus pulls up at AK the driver will inform the passengers they need to get off and transfer to the BB bus. That's the first most people will hear about it.

That's a mystery to me too. Maybe a bus breaks down or a driver calls out sick. I don't know enough about the details to understand why that happens.

It was stuff like that which Sam Lau was brought in to fix and was immediately banished to EPCOT as soon as he actually tried to CHANGE Disney Transportation into a more efficient and professional organization. But he must of had good lawyers as Disney keeps shuffling him between sinecure assignments until his contract expires

There are signs and updates posted at all the resort bus stops.

The irony of course is that the Value resorts have the best bus service of all the resorts.

IMO

Disney is not really a luxury product. You want pampering and you go to the Four Seasons. Disney is premium product.

Not when I stayed there. It was aweful. This was many years ago (16 years) so maybe things have changed. On a regular basis we had to wait for a second bus because the one that arrived was ridiculously packed. Maybe it was just the time of year or the stop we got on. I was much younger and less critical back then so it didn't bug me much at all.

Especially for guests at the flagship Grand Floridian who routinely encounter SRO buses arriving. Must be a real treat (I've never stayed there but I've been on buses that stopped at Poly or Contemporary in the past and pulled up to Grand Fla. with no seats).

I hate the bus situation at the values. I refuse to stay there with my family ever again. The only way I will stay there is if it's a girls trip and we stay in room minimally. We still took taxis/ubers because we hated the bus lines

Did not say it was GREAT bus service just that it's the best of a bad lot.

Bus service at the Contemporary is terrible. Bus service at the GF is even worse. Bus service inside a large resort like Saratoga Springs may be the worst. We've stayed at all three so I'm not just speculating. We have rented a car on each trip for almost 20 years to avoid the bus system as much as possible. We only use it when the family is going to different places at the same time. It was a great idea when first implemented to keep people onsite by removing the need to rent a car. Now however, the crowds have gotten so big the bus system is almost an albatross. I'm not sure if some Disney executives aren't secretly hoping people go back to renting cars to get them off the buses.

OK this one es me off...so now I cannot go directly to the water parks from Coronado for example?
So I will have to drive...and then by driving I will have to fight traffic, and then when I get to the Water Park I'm sure there will be some sort of premium parking that my resort stay won't cover even if I'm there by rope drop at the Water Park...which means I will have to walk back to my car in the sun after I'm sunburned and bruised from some of the slides.

First Disney change in a long time that es me off.

Another squeeze, where their loyal customers lose. Sad and unnecessary.

Coincidental timing? They're cutting the bus service to the Water Parks, while introducing the preferred parking model.

Starting June 05 at Blizzard Beach and June 19 at Typhoon, the $15 preferred spots get you closest to the entrance.

1) Cut the bus routes. 2) Make people want to drive. 3) Now charge them a fee to park close to entrance.

Welcome to Disney 2016.
