Changes to bus transportation for the water parks begins this weekend

Bean Counters at their finest, maybe all folks in management who make decisions that impact a guest experience should experience a day in our shoes. See what it's like for the guests who pay their salaries see how much more of an inconvenience and disappointment it is starting to be visiting a WDW resort and or park. Sure we all have choices and the more of an inconvenience they make it they will begin to lose customers and more and more will head north to Universal. The Magic is fading and fading super fast at the not so happiest place on earth.
I completely disagree. I always thought it was an inconvenience when going to DS to go to Typhoon Lagoon first or stop at Blizzard Beach on the way to AK. In all my travels, I cannot remember a single instance where someone got off the bus to one of the water parks early in the morning. I think it is a BETTER guest experience to skip those stops for people going to DS and AK.

So if you are leaving BB, you will have to go to AK and wait for your resort bus there? That's a pain, too.
True, so you either have inconvenience for a park going guest, or inconvenience for a water park guest. I choose inconvenience for the water park guest.

Before 12noon I would expect more people are going to Typhoon Lagoon than Disney Springs. So why not just keep with all buses stopping at both in the morning with TL first. Then through the afternoon the buses could stop at Disney Springs first and then TL. They won't need buses stopping at TL past 6pm anyway.

Again, I disagree. We never had anyone exit the bus at TL in the mornings. All were going to DS.

We had to do this in October. The only bus that left Typhoon at closing went to Epcot, of all places. Hundreds of wet, tired guests waiting for a handful of buses. Then transferring at Epcot which required a good 30+ minute wait for the bus back to our resort. It was horrible. Staff at Typhoon agreed it was ridiculous, and advised us to file a complaint, which I did when we got home. Clearly they don't care, though. I'd like to see the execs who make these decisions have to experience this themselves. It is really aggravating and could easily waste 2 or more hours for a trip that should take 10 minutes.

There is no justification for this other than cost savings. Last year was our first on property stay without a car in almost 10 years. Never again. Will definitely do a rental car again whether we stay on property or off. No transport hassles and so many easier options for food, etc.

Making guests go in different directions and switching buses is no one's fault except Disney. Now instead of a 10 - 15 minute bus ride, their commute turns into 40+ minutes. That is certainly as hassle.
Because they never had designated buses in the first place...someone was always inconvenienced. I think it's a hassle to stop at 4 different depots while staying at POR, but it is what it is and you deal with it.

I think it's been pretty well established by creditable folks this isn't a convenient move, but keep smoking that dust joint Goof
If you had read all my comments, you would see that I already stated that it is less convenient for those going to the water parks, but more convenient for those going to a theme park. Not smoking any dust at all, but since we never visit the water parks, I like the fact that I don't have to go there now, just so the bus can drive around the parking lot and leave without anyone entering or exiting the bus. Just the way we do it, and I realize it will be more inconvenient for people here, but I don't care about them.

I don't understand this decision at all. It's not like they will save money - they'll still have half empty buses going back and forth from AK and Springs to the water parks. Maybe less travel time, but still no increase in efficiency, and of course higher inconvenience for guests.

Seems to me that the easiest solution would be to dedicate some buses strictly to water parks, and consolidate resorts for pickup. This way there are less buses dedicated and they stay full.
  • Route 1: SS, POR, POFQ, OKW
  • Route 2: Pop, AoA, CBR
  • Route 3: Epcot resorts
  • Route 4: FW/WL
  • Route 5: Monorail resorts
  • Route 6: CS, ASR, AKL
The Epcot and monorail resorts could even have one central location for pickup, like Boardwalk and the TTC, instead of stopping at each resort. Same for Port Orleans and/or Pop/AoA. I may be wrong, but I think a family would rather walk across the bridge from AoA to Pop (or vice versa) to catch a bus directly to the water park than take a bus to AK then transfer.

Horrible decision. After a hot day at the water park do you really want to be crammed together like sardines with a bunch of other hot people on a bus? But hey...raising prices isn't enough....have to cut corners elsewhere too.

Oh wait.....Disney is perfect and every decision they make is brilliant. I forgot where I was.

I would have to agree with you on this one. Dedicated but shared buses to the water parks would solve a lot of the issues, but you know that everyone here will complain that they should get their own bus, and not have to share it with another resort.

So your saying that you believe this is geared more towards guest convenience and less about cost cutting?
And since they are now adding at least 2 more buses to go from AK to BB and DS to TL, they have to add more bus drivers and use more gas, so where are they saving money?????

Yup, it's all about me. :D

So you're saying it's OK to inconvenience me, but it's not OK to be inconvenient to someone else? Right?
I don't think anyone should be inconvenienced at Disney's prices. But if someone should be, a five-minute delay to get to DAK (which all of us experience) doesn't seem unreasonable to avoid a 30-minute delay for those going to the water park.

Personally, I'll make the best of it and book a Rainforest breakfast at 8:30 and then go to Blizzard Beach. But it's an inconvenience.
