Next week: locusts will swarm central Florida.

These plagues will continue until Disney announces plans for Epcot's 25th anniversary.

A tsunami is caused when the earthquake causes an actual crack in the surface of the ocean or an underwater landslide.

Anything that causes a massive displacement of water.

A tsunami (pronunciation /sʊˈnɑːmi/ or /tsʊˈnɑːmi/) is a series of waves when a body of water, such as an ocean is rapidly displaced on a massive scale. Earthquakes, mass movements above or below water, volcanic eruptions and other underwater explosions, and large meteorite impacts all have the potential to generate a tsunami. The effects of a tsunami can range from unnoticeable to devastating.

Seems a 6.0 250 or so miles out wasn't enough to warrent concern.

http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recent...lav.php#summary

This earthquake was centered beneath the Gulf of Mexico, well distant from the nearest active plate boundary. Such "midplate" earthquakes are much less common than earthquakes occurring on faults near plate boundaries, and most probably represent the release of long-term tectonic stresses that ultimately originate from forces applied at the plate boundary. This is the largest of more than a dozen shocks that have been instrumentally recorded from the eastern Gulf of Mexico in the past three decades, and it is the most widely felt. The most recent significant earthquake in the region occurred on February 10th, 2006 and had a magnitude of 5.2. We have not associated this earthquake with a specific causative fault. Earthquakes of this magnitude are unlikely to generate destructive tsunami. No significant tsunami was generated by this earthquake.

Ever see the cartoon where SSE rolled off the pylons and hit the castle like a bunch of bowling pins (complete with sound effects, of coarse!)??

I don't remember what cartoon it was, but it was pretty funny!

AH! I remember that, it was the new adventures of Secret Squirrel. One of the villians wanted to take over the country so he sent all these termites to destroy the biggest tourist destinations at the four corners of the country. One by one, you see them get eaten, then it shows Florida and the castle. The termites start to eat the castle but then stop, they see SE and eat the supports, causing it roll off and demolish the castle. (Thats about the gist of it, im working from memory here  )

Pretty funny stuff...

I felt it here in the Atlanta area. I was on a bench at home and felt it quiver for about 2 seconds. I initially thought it was my daughter trying to get my attention but when I heard her voice in the other room, I quickly thought of possible reason #2.......the Linda Blair syndrome. :lookaroun

I was at WDW today and didn't notice anything, although around eleven I was probably in the Haunted Mansion or on Thunder Mountain.

You could feel it at Disney. It was enough of a quake that a friend told me that it knocked Expedition Everest's sensors out of place causing the attraction to go down for most of today. I am not sure if it reopened after it.

After checking my receipts, I was at the Frontierland General Store at 10:55 AM, so I'm not sure how I missed this one.

This just in from Local6.com and Orlando Sentinal "Spaceship Earth rolls off stand at Disney's Epcot due to earthquake, we'll retract the story and get our facts straight just after we get some press and tarnish the Disney name some more"

At first I thought someone might have been terribly mistaken since the shuttle launched yesterday a little after 11am. Now I am seeing proof that it was an earthquake. What timing though.
