Pre-Trip Celebrating 50x2 and 25, plus an additional year - December 2024

We're going back!

Let me first explain my title. We honeymooned at CBR and have spent the majority of our milestone anniversaries at WDW (plus a lot of trips with the kids in between!) and we had planned to return last December to celebrate my 50th birthday which is in November, our 25th anniversary which is Dec. 19, and Brian's 50th birthday which is in January. With our anniversary falling so close to the anniversary of Lily's death, we were just not emotionally ready to return, nor to leave the boys by themselves that close to the anniversary and Christmas, so we are returning this year to celebrate instead!

Here we are on our honeymoon way back in 1998 (sorry about the pictures of pictures, I'm being lazy today!):

Our anniversary is in December, but we took our honeymoon in Aug/September due to my school schedule!

We did not celebrate our 5th anniversary at WDW because Logan's first birthday was 10 days after our anniversary and we didn't want to leave him that close to Christmas and his birthday.

10th anniversary:

15th anniversary:

20th anniversary (we were there on our actual anniversary this year):

Now for this trip! We were very limited on when and how long this trip could be. Brian works as a paraprofessional at the high school and only has 3 personal days to use and he wanted to save his sick days in case he actually gets sick between now and then or later in the year, as he used all of his accumulated sick days plus some that other staff and teachers donated the semester after Lily's death. So we had to include a weekend in our park days and leave on an evening flight which I absolutely hate to do! I called to schedule this trip right after returning from our June trip to use the bounceback discount. The original dates I wanted were not available at CBR or any other hotel I was interested in, so we shifted the dates a little and will now be there Dec. 6-11. They also didn't have a king bed room available, so we will be in a water view 5th sleeper.

Our flight leaves from Columbus at 5:45pm on Friday the 6th. That allows Brian to get off at his normal time and still make it to the airport in time for the flight. I took Thursday and Friday off to prepare and pack.

We don't have tickets yet because there were no ticket deals going on at the time I booked. I was hoping they would extend the 4 park magic tickets that we used in June, but no such luck. Instead, they offered free park hopper upgrade when you book the holiday discounted rooms. Therefore, we are not eligible for that deal. Not sure if we will park hop or stick to the one park per day yet. We are not attending MVMCP or Jollywood Nights, so that limits what days we can attend MK and DHS if we choose to not get hoppers.

I am also undecided on whether we will purchase LLMP and what LLSP we will purchase. Rides are definitely not our focus this trip and there are only a couple that I want to be sure to ride. My initial thought was to buy LLMP for MK so I could get Tiana and DHS so I could be sure to get ToT and RnRC and a LLSP for Guardians, but with a short trip, I'm afraid I won't be able to get Tiana, which will negate the need to purchase for MK. Good thing I have awhile to decide what to do on that front!

I am contemplating purchasing a dessert party for our MK day because I definitely want to see the fireworks and Brian really despises the crowds for them. We've done the garden view before and enjoyed it, but now they have the garden area shared between before and after parties, so not sure it wouldn't be crowded as well, so thinking about the sit down one. We'll see. I am also thinking about a Candlelight Processional dining package, as that is a must see for me since we've never seen it.

I also have to find time to visit the Christmas Tree Trail at DS. This will probably have to be after our AK day.

Our return flight is at 3:50pm on the 11th. This leaves a little time for us in the morning, but not a whole lot to do much, so we'll probably do a sit down breakfast somewhere and resort hop a little bit before leaving for the airport.

I just realized that I didn't introduce us in my first post for those of you who may not know me. Oops! I am Amy and my husband is Brian. We have three kids. Logan is 21 and attending the University of Iowa, Lily would be 19 but is now in heaven, and Owen is 16 and a junior in high school.

You all know how I like to prepare for my trips! I already have my Christmas shirts ready!!
For MK:

For Epcot:

For DHS:

For AK:

And for our travel home day:

Brian chose this one for I assume our MK day:

I also have a new bag for this trip:

As always, there will be lots of updates as the trip gets closer!

I'm looking forward to seeing more once you go! I love the Candlelight Processional and we usually do the Biergarten dining package for it. I love your Land Christmas shirt, all the shirts are super cool though.
Love all your shirts, but especially the LWTL!! Your plans sound fun. :)
Thanks! I was excited to find one specific for LWTL!

This sounds like a lovely trip and I can't wait to see how it all transpires! I was so excited as I just booked a December trip, but mine is 20-23rd, so I'm sorry I won't get to hug you in person! Have the best time!!
Aww, I would have loved to meet you! Maybe someday! Hope you have a great trip!
Love all of the 'throw back' photos! And your new bag!

Looking forward to the report.
Thanks!

How exciting!!

So glad you guys are heading back in December. From what I’ve heard that first week of the month has great weather, (generally) lower lines and all the Christmas decorations. Which is why we’re going at that week year, maybe we’ll bump into each other! 😊

So fun to see those older pictures! I can only imagine all the wonderful memories you all shared! Thanks for posting!!

FWIW, I did the seats and treats fireworks dessert party at MK this past May with my then 7yo and 2yo. ZERO regrets. While it was expensive, it was so worth being able to just sit and relax and watch the show. I loved it. The kids loved it. 100% recommend it for special occasions.

Thank you for sharing that! The more I think about it, the more I think I'm going to go ahead and purchase it. Is that one you can purchase at midnight 60 days out or 7am?

I’m not sure. I think I booked it 6am with my ADRs.

I would get there a bit early and ask for a seat up on the railing. With just two of you that should be doable. We had a weird seat all the way to the side, but the view was still fine.

You can see the big tree there looked like it would block the view, but it was really fine because the fireworks are mostly behind the castle.

Which means it's ADR day!

First, I want it on the record that I think it's ridiculous that Disney opens reservations for the Enchanting Extras at midnight and the regular dining at 6am! Midnight is way past my bedtime (unless I'm in Disney!) and even though 6am is shortly before I normally get up, it's not usually after being up at midnight as well!

Second, I'm a little perturbed that they haven't announced the Candlelight Processional narrator list yet because that may affect which day I want to go to Epcot and could mess up the dining I just got up early to do today! And it would be nice to not have to get up early a second day once they release the CP dining packages and hope the system doesn't crash with everyone else reserving at the same time!
OK, enough complaining! We decided to try some new restaurants this trip.

Saturday, Dec 7 - MK lunch at Steakhoue 71 and Seats and Treats for the fireworks

Sunday, Dec. 8 - DHS dinner at Sebastian's Bistro

Monday, Dec. 9 - AK dinner at The Boathouse

Tuesday, Dec. 10 - Epcot waiting on CP dining packages

Wednesday, Dec. 11 - breakfast at Topolino's with Brian's cousin and her family

In hindsight, I didn't need to get up at midnight because there were still spots available for Seats and Treats when I checked at about 5:45 this morning, but when I was checking the past 2 weeks, there were never spots available in the morning. Oh well, better safe than sorry!

It's been awhile since I shared kitty pictures, so here are a few for your enjoyment!

Have a great time.

We were married in 1998 (August), and did our 10 year anniversary at Disney (which was supposed to be a1 time trip). Now we've done almost every anniversary since then at Disney.
