CC Cabana Questions

My wife and I will be staying concierge and are considering requesting a cabana at our 150 day mark. We did have a couple of questions:

1. Do the cabanas get a lot of sun? From the looks of most of the pictures I have seen it seems that all the places to sit, besides the hammock, are quite shaded. Is it a struggle to find a spot around the cabanas to get some sun?

2. Is there a big difference between the cabanas on the family beach and those at SB? It will just be my wife and I, so it seems like SB is the logical choice, unless the ones on the family beach are better for whatever reasons.

3. What exactly is included with the cabana? I know there is some fruit, soda, water and cold towels in the fridge, but besides that what other perks are there with a cabana?

Any other thoughts or opinions are always welcome. :D

First, make sure you're paid in full! They can't reserve anything for you if you aren't paid in full. ;)

1. Well, that sorta depends. I thought the Serenity Bay cabana we had was more shaded then the family beach cabanas I've been in. Either location, no, you won't have a problem finding sun. I would say overall there's more sun than shade as far as the decks w/loungers, hammocks, etc. On both beaches you are very near all-out loungers that are either in the sun or have umbrellas for shade if wanted. The the beach and area in front of the family beach cabanas where the regular loungers are on the beach is restricted access to only cabanas guests. Not the case with the Serenity Bay cabanas.

2. The views on the family beach, IMO, are better. That's an opinion thing, tho. I like gazing out at the ship in the distance. Also, I love the restricted access beach area. It's peaceful. Takes the whole VIP vibe to another level for me. I also think the lower numbered cabanas are a better location in terms of proximity to restrooms and food service. They're close!

3. Snorkel equipment, floats, and bike rental are all included. In the family cabanas you get sand toys, too. Sunscreen is provided. Also, you don't have to carry your towels from the spots where they are distributed. Much larger, plusher towels are inside the cabana. Also, there's a closet to store your things with a small safe inside. The plush furniture, ceiling fan, shade, and hammock that you didn't have to stake out early are also fabulous to have. Oh! And each cabana has it's own freshwater shower AND footwash spigots. I know that doesn't sound too significant but the footwash thing is big for me because I'm always trying to manage the stupid sand. I hate feeling sandy. There's also the little bell to ring for service. Need something? Just ring. This is particularly nice for bar service! The biggest thing is the VIP vibe. You really do feel totally pampered. Once you do Castaway Cay with a cabana it's hard to go back to not having one. LOL!

I'm glad you chimed in sweetpee. You really seem to have a nack for this DCL stuff. I am making it a point to make sure we are paid in full long before our 150 day mark. We have had cabanas on Labadee (RCCL's private island), so we know what we are getting ourselves into. ;)

My first follow up question is... do you, or anyone, know the current going rates for the cabanas? I know the ones on the family beach, from what I have read, tend to be more expensive. Is the separate cabana beach and the views worth the extra cost?

Kelly gave you great answers above of course. :)

Current rate for the family beach is $549. I prefer them because of their location and private beach. They are also slightly larger and accommodate more people which is why the cost is higher.

The cabanas at Serenity Bay are $399.

Don't get me wrong, I'd take a cabana at either beach, but the family beach is my favorite.

Oh Oh! You've had a cabana on Labadee! I cannot find prices for those to save my life. Do you mind sharing how much the going rate is??? I've seen pics and they look pretty cool! :D

The last time we had one was December '12. We had one of the beach cabanas. My sister also took one (only 2 of the 4 were available from our cruise since we weren't the only ship there that day) and we decided on the ones on the beach because of her 2 younger daughters. It was our way of paying our parents back for treating all of us to the cruise. Back then it ran me $175, which was the least expensive of the cabanas. We like the ones on the beach a lot better than the over the water ones. However, I am very much out of the loop on the cabanas on Labadee since we haven't been on a cruise since.

The cabanas on Labadee don't look as nice as the ones on CC, but they are still very roomy and comfy. You also don't (or at least didn't) spend nearly as much as the ones on CC.
