I had heard that CBR is going through a major refurb this year - and getting the queen beds. The refurb starts in April.
Pros: theming is phenomenal; the landscaping is lush, and you can't find a prettier setting for a sunset than anywhere along the lake; it's spread out enough so that even if the place is packed, you don't feel like the rest of the resort is on top of you (unless you are at the main pool or the food court at breakfast); you get to see the fireworks from EPCOT every night.
Cons: Food court can get mobbed at busiest times, but I suppose that is true of any resort
Two of the biggest knocks against CBR is its size and the busses. It is a very large resort - one of the biggest at WDW. And some buildings are further away from Old Port Royale (food court/main pool) and if you do not have a car, it's a long walk or a bus ride. BUT, if you know this going in, and know what buildings to request to be closer to OPR, or don't mind the walk, or have a car and can drive, you will be fine. My wife and I love the fact that it's so spread out. Like I said earlier, you can feel a sense of privacy and alone-ness even among so many other people.
As for the busses, did I say it was one of the largest on property? It does have several stops it has to make for every park. And I have never experienced the horrendous bus stories I have seen posted here and elsewhere (1.5 hours or more for a bus). And this is after 10 years of at least 10 nights each - over 100 nights. I have seen 4 DTD busses in a row, but my bus has always been within 15-20 minutes of arriving at the stop, which is what they advertise.
So if you want 'a tropical paradise as exotic and colorful as the islands themselves' (yes I do know that from heart and fellow CBR lovers will know what I am saying
, CBR is your place. If not, enjoy POR - while I have never stayed, I have visited and it is also very nice.
