Not really. When leadership’s view is that theme parks are stupid entertainment for stupid people, then the assumption is only stupid people work in theme parks.
What??? Is this a cruel joke? , oh I just saw your username. What a classless statement.

It’s strange that Disney doesn’t want someone with theme park knowledge running the parks.

That's not exactly true. The division heads do have parks experience, they know whats best for their respective resorts. This just cuts a layer of fat. Chapek was always the head of the division anyways, so whether or not there's a middle layer has nothing to do with it.

Al Weiss, that's a known exec. Didn't he afterwards run that nail and beauty salon / Marliyn Monroe spa?

Yes, he started opening day at WDW and left as President of WW Operations, amazing career. Sadly he left due to some unfortunate circumstances very unexpectedly. He then became the head of the MM spas, yes.

What a hilariously blunt official statement on her sudden departure!

"The 15 year veteran is departing to do something different, Disney said Monday."

I guess the old standby "leaving to spend more time with family" has become a tad too cliche' for just meaning "fired".

"Departing to do something different." That about sums it up. :D
This doesn’t remove the target on Chapek’s back, but this does benefit a certain former Contemporary busboy as she was next in line to run the division.

Is Colgaizer out too? He has the Asian parks which was basically the same thing Powell did for the US/EUR parks.

It doesn’t look like it as he is still shown on the DPECP leadership page while Catherine is gone. Michael’s role is slightly different because the Asia parks aren’t controlled directly by Disney. You need someone on the ground to help push through things like expansions, funding, etc and work with the ownership partners. Catherine was just another desk in Burbank.

Then who was responsible for Disneyland Paris's 25th Anniversary and the park's recovery period?
Phillipe Gas and many other executives you, and many here, don’t know. Oh and the Disney Dollars that made it possible. DCA 2.0 was greenlit under Matt Ouimet and Ed Grier, neither of whom worked for the company by the time those projects started to open.

Cathy is a PR/Comms person who knows how to put herself in the best possible light.

I actually saw Iger on The View this morning.

Hawking his book? Word is he's trying to position himself for a post-Disney career in pre-fabricated "outreach" in order to run for President in '24.

Iger has been trying to find women and non-whites to elevate to senior leadership. It's telling that Ms. Powell was simply fired instead of shuffled into something new in Burbank's current "We're Looking For Women!" corporate environment.

Ms. Powell obviously took the fall for the Star Wars Land flops on both coasts.
