Are they taking the overlay down on the castle right after HCOE is over?

I really, truly hope so. It's sooo tacky. A picture of Cinderella's Castle on a HUGE gold medallion...on Cinderella's Castle itself. Yuck.
I don't mind the window at all when it's on any of the other castles. I don't think it should be permanent, but...I don't know, I was excited by the HCOE Castle Overlay concept art where the window had Sleeping Beauty Castle with the big "50" in the crown; I thought that was a really cool way to make it clear what the celebration was about...I was disappointed to see that it changes, but it really only makes me go "what the heck were they thinking?" when they show Cinderella Castle and it says "Walt Disney World" at the bottom. Gee, didn't know what THAT looked like!
I think it looks very pretty; MUCH better than the cake! :lol: But I hope it all comes down when the Celebration ends in fall.

There has been speculation that, although the "Magic Mirror" (really the "Magic Stained Glass Window") will be removed at the conclusion of the HCOE, other more-decorative elements of the HCOE overlay (glittering swirls about the turrets and such) may remain for a spell o' time...

I like that idea... The characters, 'swirls' and such is a nice addition. While I liked the "Magic Mirror" it seems overly large to me. It would be nice to see the characters changed out every so often to keep it 'fresh'.SirNim said:

It's one of the few overlays - along with the one at Disneyland - I've actually liked. It's not too showy, and not as tacky as some of the concept art made it seem like it would be. If they keep it for some time, I won't mind. It's that hat and wand that have to go (oh man, did I just bring that up AGAIN?).

like most people, i liked the overlay. the gold added some nice and classy touches. the mirror though was a little cheese-tastic and kind of spoiled the forced perspective. at least i though so

I have to agree lose the mirror. The rest isnt all that bad, its one of the better overlays they have done.

Love the extras...not a big fan of the mirror. Covers up too many parts of the castle where they add more tiny golden characters
