Castle Lighting

On now... the Imaginerring show. When they were talking about TOT, if you looked in the back ground, they showed the castle (a minature) all lit up and flashing with I would think fiber optics. It was cool. Since someone on this site said they heard from a source that the castle would be reciving FO lighting, I just figured I would post.

Yeah, the Fiber optic lighting has been rumored for a while. Part of the rumor is that they are adding it right now, as part of the refurb and painting with the cranes.

If Disney is shooting for a "vegasy" look -- then why don't they just build Walt Disney World - The Vegas Adventure ;)

It's a thought.. ;)

Imagineering has always been trying to involve the castle in Fantasy in the Skies. I think that is the only time that we would see this lighting.

If you watch now, you can see ghosts on the castle and sea effects, all created by robot lights.

I for one would LOVE to see the entire castle glow with fiberoptics.

LOL I thought I was the only one who would notice that. I agree that it would look amazing for the fireworks if the castle was blinking with fiberoptics like that. But it could just be a little model for show. YOu never know...

I don't think it would be even close to vegas, where the buildings are always lit by fiberoptic lighting.

Consider this more of a "pixie dust" effect that would take place at certain times :)

I thought I was the only one who noticed that too! Didn't they just recently add the lighting that they have now? Like, within the last 5 years? When I was at Grad Nite this past August, they had all of the coloring flashing one after the other (unlike during the usual color change every 20 seconds or so). Also, when the colors weren't flashing, a confetti looking lighting was swirling on the "barrier" walls of the castle.

lol, I noticed this too, and I guess I shouldnt underestimate you guys. You already have a whole thread going on it!

I bet the fiber optics wouldnt look quite the same as the model. On the castle, they would look much smaller in comparison to the castle, so it probably wouldn't have the same "vegas" look that the model did. If this is in fact a model for upcoming fiberoptics, mabey it is just used for refrence on how the lights will move and at what times they will change.

And I also noticed the CGI Mickey in the back. I bet that's Philharmagic!

As for the Statue of Liberty.......???

Hmm.. Maybe the Statue of Liberty was the model for Disney America, or for the set of American Adventure.

>>>I bet that the model, and this whole idea, are for Tokyo<<<

Isn't it sad that whenever you see some cool concept Imagineering has you can just say "it's for Tokyo" and not even have a hope that it will come to America?

Don't hold out any hopes for this one either.

The images I saw during the program looked more like artist renderings of what it's supposed to look like inside...

How about that full motion AA? Wow...

Btw, what happened Fievel? You're in a "bad avatar" mood again?

Nope...just a new avatar.

I'm still holding out that these fiber-optics are coming to WDW along with this castle rehab...i dont' think it should take that long to paint it.
