...it's just outside the RnR courtyard....behind the Ice Cream shop on the corner of Sunset Blvd....if you are walking from Sunset Blvd toward the Archway (or whatever that is where the car is upside down) that leads to the RnR courtyard, it's on the left side...

...does that little street have it's own name, I never noticed...how bout the street near the Beauty and Beast Theater?...does it have it's own name?....mental block.

wow.. I like it when people show concern. I had the guest kicked out of the park, and his ticket voided. He was also trespassed from all Disney properties worldwide for 1 year (that was my managements doing.. I just wanted him kicked out)

which guy? the stinky-head who put the cig out on you? thats awesome!! he deserved to be banned for a while. he was not acting very disney-like (does that mean he cant go to the disneystore in the mall either?)

could you imagine though, if somoking WAS banned... no hard core smokers could go because every hour or so they'd need to exit the park... hmm maybe this should be the next national campaign to get people to quit... like "if you dont stop you cant go to disneyworld ever again!!" that'd be motavation enough for me!! hehe

and yes
a little second hand smoke CAN harm you...
i have 2 smoking parents
and asthma
so it is bad for little kids...

I'm not sure.. I know it includes all Disney owned locales.. so DLR is out of the question, as is any Disney owned building.. i'm assuming any TDS in which Disney owns the building would apply, if not every TDS

Of course this guy should have been banned for injuring a castmember, but how do they enforce something like that? I know of at least one case where someone was banned from a store and their picture was put in the break room, but this is so much larger of a scale. Trying to pick out people who have been banned must be like finding a needle in a haystack.

I'm still shocked that someone would do that. It's assault! Did you press charges?

Does anyone else see a marketing opportunity? The Disney Patch!

Classic Mickey-head styling, of course.

I didn't... it's too much of a hassle if there is no long lasting injury that requires outside care. I mean.. the lawyers, and court fees... waitaminute!!!! All my uncles are lawyers!! D'OH!

Under Florida law, that was a felonious assault. It was, of course, your choice as to whether or not you wished to press charges. Interesting though, had that same offense happened between a husband and wife (for example a wife purposely burned her husband with a cigarette) then an Orange County Deputy is duty bound (upon taking the report) under the Florida Domestic Violence Law to arrest and jail the wife. IMHO, you let the guy off too easy mktiggerman. Your job is hard enough without having to put up with that kind of criminal behavior. Also, since you were at work then WDW should back you up and pay your regular salary for any and all time you spend in the court system to bring this guy to justice.

I have 3 problems with smokers, (and I'm not trying to bash smokers, in fact most will probably agree with me). One of the things is here at work, if you smoke, it's sort of an unwritten rule that you can go downstarirs and take smoke breaks whenever you feel like. This usually amounts to the smokers taking a 15 minute break every hour, which means for a whole day they only work 6 hours while I work 8. This is not frowned upon by anyone, but if I were to work 6 hours a day instead of 8 I would be fired. :veryconfu My next gripe is the smokers who drive down the road smoking with the windows up with little kids or even babies in the car, this in my opinion is child abuse. And my last gripe is the smokers that think that the highways are their own personal ashtray. If you like cigarettes and smoke so damn much, put them out in your car ashtray and empty it later. I'm sorry if I offendend anyone that was not my intent, just had to vent. :animwink:

Hey Nut, I'm with you (and I doubt any smokers here will really be offended-- these are respect issues). The BIGGEST one for me is when people just throw them on the ground. When I was a kid we used to find them everywhere and we would pick them up and play with them. HOW GROSS IS THAT??

Those of us who are non-smokers will probably never understand the strength of addiction, and how hard it really is to quit, and those who are smokers will probably never understand how much the stuff really stinks! I hear all the time about "smokers' rights" and they have a point, but so do those people who don't want their clothes and hair to smell for the rest of the day, and for many of us it is very difficult to breathe when there is smoke in the air (and I don't even have asthma, so I can't imagine how hard it is for those people!).

Designated smoking areas are a good compromise. They can light up, and we can avoid them (the cigarettes, not the people, LOL! I'm sure you're all very nice). I am still shaking my head over what that guy did to you, Rob. I'm guessing arrogant control freak.

Actually there is no such thing as smokers rights (to me) Because smoking is something that those people chose to do. No one ever has to be accomadating towards smokers, it is a lifestyle choice.

Ill step off the soap box

that is one of my pet peaves w/ ppl smoking areas......some of the worst things

someone smoking in the judges tent to see mickey

telling a little old lady about the no smoking policy then having her tell me off

and finally on my birthday this summer having a guy through ashes into my face and burning the side of my face......

So please remember for the comfort and enjoyment of all guests the magic kingdom is a no smoking environment. Please ask a cast member for the location of the nearest smoking area.

I've given a dirty look to a guest who was smoking in Tomorrowland, I don't think the lady even saw me. But still, it was pretty brave of me, dontcha think? (Just kidding!)

I'll go up to people and make it very clear that if they wanna smoke, they have to do it outside of the line and in the smoking area just across the pathway. If i get the "I'll put it out.." followed by no movement to do so, I'll give them my patented "Now or you'll regret it" look (see avatar). I once had a guy who blew his smoke at me after I told him to put it out and was trying to get in my face, but I simply closed the doors to the attraction in his face, then smiled and walked away. I think his wife gave him a swift jab in the ribs with her elbow.

The people who throw fits about smoking or act like idiots are the same ones who give you hell about bringing their drink inside the building. You spend most of your time ignoring them, and if they get to be too pushy or really think they'll open a door and let themselves in, you call security.

I try not to be overly pushy or go out of my way to "find smokers." If i see people exiting the ride in the crowd and they light up after being inside for 45 min, I understand they probably need a fix - and wont chase after them unless they linger in the main area. Most times, if they're smoking, they do stop walking or go off to the side, so i can direct them 6 more feet over to the smoking area.

Other CM's i know will be walking in another park and tell the person not to smoke in the main areas. I figure without a nametag, I have no power - and i'm not gonna try and get someone in trouble.

The newer "smoker trash cans" are nice. That way people don't have to guess where the smoking area is. I wish the two areas near me had them. I sometimes am like "Eww.. smoking area.." when I see and smell it, but I also appreciate that they're all congrigated there instead of just wandering around the park.

I think it's just to hard for some people to realize it's offensive to others. I have had a few run ins with guests who get angry when I tell them to put out there cigarettes. It just bothers me because they have no respect for others.

It never seems to be a big problem when I go to WDW I never see the smokers there! But last week when I went to Cedar Point (I know I am off topic) there was so much smoking in line even after they were told to put it out! And to make it worse when we were waiting in line for Raptor (great coaster) someone actually took a P-E-E (I love how thats considered a bad word LOL) in LINE!! That was the worst thing!! :dazzle: :(

I myself am a smoker, It's a disgusting habit, but I'm addicted. I however am a considerate smoker. If I happen to be somewhere and there is someone who it is bothering I will put it out or move away from them.

I think the smoking areas are a great idea for us addicts, for we are dependant on the nicotine, but I can't support any smoker who can't follow the rules. And Rob I would have had to press charges on the guy, I'm just waiting till the day some drunk at my table gets mad because he's losing, and tries that on me...... but, I digress.

(sigh)

I too, am addicted. But I am working on it:brick:

I too consider myself to be one of the 'Considerate smokers'.
I absoletly cringe, and will say something to people who smoke in enclosed areas with children or non-smokers.
It especially makes my blood boil when at the parks, inconsiderate goof-balls light up in areas like the queue or any areas that are not far enough away from others. I won't smoke even in some of the posted smoking locations simply because I think they are still to close to non-smokers. Take the smoking area in the MK that is just behind the castle gates on the right side if you are looking out towards the central hub.
That place is always packed with folks after 10 am, so it is inconsiderate to smoke there.

Some folks just don't get that:hammer:
