Yeah…. I was about to mention that in my previous post. I just stayed at the brand new Conrad Hilton in LA (before heading down to Anaheim the next day).

It was free, using a reward night. As a Diamond member they upgraded me to a corner 1-room suite. And I got a $50 credit for Food and Beverage. (Which barely covered my club soda and sandwich at the lounge! Haha).

It was the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed at…. And it was completely free.

Disney has a great loyalty program for the cruise line…. It’s baffling they haven’t built one for the resorts.
I am either Platinum or Titanium at Marriott depending on the year and like you, the upgrades I get are unbelievable. Free nights, bonus points, meal credits, suite upgrades, turn down service, free desserts, free room service, etc. I’m not saying Disney needs all of that, but Deluxe Resorts should have benefits with the prices you’re paying. Repeat visitors should get even more.

Many of the benefits could not even cost them much or any money. Give me exclusive access to parks, 50% off a Halloween party, give some points for another stay, free dessert, a couple Lightning Lanes?

My parents are lifetime gold (had it since before the program switched), and they also get great perks. Never seen them get free room service though! I would have eaten through that easily!

All the times we have stayed at WDW you would think they would have some sort of loyalty program ---Not Disney. We have Hilton honors and it puts Disney to shame. I hope the day comes when it bites Disney in the ______.

As they continue to drop employee benefits, employees will look for other companies with better benefits. In the past Disney didn't pay the best, but they certainly had great benefits to offset. Now that Disney removed the Aspire program (and other programs(, you could see future candidates drop Disney from their preferred employers' list.

They are still a remarkable corporation to work for, but what's made them stand out is shrinking year over year.

There's also lots of competition for employees in Orlando (especially next year as Universal hires for Epic and 3 new resorts), so in order to properly staff their parks they need to reduce their hiring restrictions.
Work ethic does not change with remuneration.

Doesn't pay the best? Someone hired off the street with no experience starts at $20 per hour in parks and resorts. In my area, a 911 operator , TSA at the airport , phlebotomist at the hospital starts at $18 and these roles have more responsibility and stress to go along with it. A Planet Fitness front desk role raised their starting rate to $15 per hour.

From what I’ve read those with the strongest work ethic might be tempted to go elsewhere, as I think Disney tries to cut costs by cutting employee hours or sending them home whenever possible. I’m only getting my info from message boards though, so it could be wrong.

The Hilton adjacent to Disney Springs is a nice place to stay and eat. The Mouse will take our money whether we stay on property or very close to it.

Studies show that it CAN, but it's only one factor.

The difference between someone who feels that they're paid fairly and paid highly isn't much. The motivation comes when it's someone who feels that they're underpaid vs fairly paid.

Why stay at a Disney hotel at all if you resent the fact that they don’t have a loyalty program?
i mean, I think it’s 100% wrong how they have monetized Fastpass but I will still go and enjoy the parks.

I don’t think it’s wrong they don’t have a loyalty program, it just seems surprising to me they don’t. On my last visit to WDW I stayed at Port Orleans and felt it was 100% worth it. On other trips I’ve stayed at the Hilton on points and enjoyed saving the money. Both can be true :)

OK, but you can still go and stay at WDW without setting foot in a Disney-operated hotel. If the lack of a loyalty program is as egregious as the poster implied, why on earth is he needlessly taking his business to such hotels rather than the countless other non-Disney options, many of which are just as close to the parks and some of which (like the Swan and Dolphin) offer the same perks?

I’ve complained about the lack of loyalty programs at Disney too… I can’t speak for another poster but for me, the convenience and theming are worth it if I decide to stay at a Disney Resort.

While the swan and dolphin is a great location, it’s usually the same price as port orleans and that will win every time for me!

To be clear, I have no issue with people complaining about deficiencies they see at WDW. I have complaints too. But there's a difference between criticising the company's shortcomings and hoping that "the day comes when it [in this case the lack of loyalty program] bites Disney in the ______". If that's your level of anger towards something you don't have to support, then don't support it.

I would love it if Disney’s over all greed and ripping out the soul of theme parks would bite them! So I guess I’m part of the problem? Haha

Quite the difference between British understatement and American love of extremes in speech. Makes for many misunderstandings of others intent and real level of umbridge
