Casey's hot cheese on condiments bar?

As was stated in the video, the chances of winning this suite or coming to a favorable settlement are greatly enhance by the unfortunate circumstance of the victim being a 4 year old child and not an adult.

I'm not in the food service industry. What is the appropriate temperature at which hot cheese should be maintained? Has it been reported if the boy was served the hot cheese on Nachos from behind the counter or if he somehow got it off the fixins' bar?
Agree regarding a child being injured, the courts will rule in the favor of the parents, however, that doesn't absolve the fact the parents should have checked it first, no? I definately agree, at the very least, the child's medical bills SHOULD be paid but the parents suing for Punitive damages for emotional distress is over the top. You bring up a valid point: circumstances are not really known (temperature of said cheese, how this happened to be spilled on his face, etc) The bottom line, in my very honest opinion, is the parents should have checked the cheese, especially since it's in a paper cup, they had to realize how hot it was before handing it to their child.

Casey's is just not the same without the cheese sauce. I appreciate the onions, peppers, and everything else but the real winner here (over the dogs even) was the cheese). Alas, I still go to Casey's every chance I get.

Or maybe, just maybe, restaurants should not be serving items meant to be immediately consumed at temperatures hot enough to cause 3rd degree burns.

I work in food and people want their coffee/soup that hot. Crazy, I know! We have our soup at 180 degrees and people want us to microwave it to make it hotter. So pretty much they want boiling food. Especially the older people, since they loose the nerve endings in their mouth they do not think it is hot but it is. I would say to older people to put you finger in it to see if it is hot before you try it. Every day we have people order lattes asking it to be "extra hot".

Here is my problem with the whole law suit thing as being the cause of the removal of the cheese.... we knew for a week before it went away that it was going to be removed on a specific date. IF they removed it because it presented a real danger, then Disney could be proven to have known that they had a dangerous situation and did not act to remove that danger in a timely manner. I agree that the ideal of a lawsuit over hot cheese is BS, but you cannot knowingly leave a potentially dangerous situation unchanged for a week. When it is so simple as taking it off the fixxins bar. I think there were bigger issues than just a frivolous lawsuit that made the decision for them. (cost/expense, crowd control, sanitary issues, etc)

When I worked in the restaurant industry, I quickly learned that people generally want their hot liquids boiling hot. Over my 10+ years in the service industry, thousands of soups and coffees were sent back to the kitchen for being "not hot enough". I remember the time an elderly woman returned a soup three times for not being hot enough. On the third time, the waiter put it in the microwave until it was boiling violently. When it was returned to the woman, she accepted it and said it was "just right".

PS - this thread is hysterical.

So this is gone, forever? Anywhere on property can it be found? Can you request it?

Sadly no...

Just got back from the world and asked some cast member about it. The story they tried to sell me is that is was too dangerous for the cast members to handle the hot cheese. LOL Seriously? Better take the ovens and grills out because those are hot and dangerous also. Don't forget about the sharp knives too. What a joke. I hate it when they make up a BS story that sounds ridiculous to justify something.

I am guilty. I love Wendy's chili but if it is hot boiling hot where I can see the steam I will not eat it.

I wish they would still offer the cheese from behind the counter only per request. And they could turn the temp down on it a few degrees if needed.

I MISS THE CHEESE

It seems there is no middle ground at disney. I would like this as well but even still it causes a risk for a parent that is dumb enough to not watch their child. I suspect buffets like golden corrall are next to loose hot cheese. I have seen very little kids spoon on cheese on their fries.

As a follow up: Since there is no cheese. I now get 10 cups of onions, 3 cups of peppers, and 2 cups of relish. Yes I eat it all
