A while ago, there was a post that Caseys would no longer serve BEEF hot dogs. Was this true? And if so, is this in effect now? I only eat BEEF hot dogs.

I can't personally confirm, but the news I've heard on other boards and blogs is that the hot dogs are now 60% chicken, 40% beef, and that they're only served on wheat buns. The beef-and-white-bread crowd are, understandably, outraged. If I wanted a healthy meal, I probably wouldn't choose a hot dog, no matter its ingredients.

I understand the buns as a cost cutting measure. It is acceptable with a hotdog but with a hamburger it is just plain messy.

I did not like the chicken bites at first, I LOVED the TENDERS. But you actually get more food the new way.

As for the hot dogs, I understand the change. However, Caseys is known for BEEF - that is their specialization.

I allways found Caseys dogs to be, well, not to my liking.

Maybe if they throw some pork in the mix, it would be better.

I think the buns are more of a health promotion deal, rather than a cost cutting. Much the same reason you cannot get a Toll House Ice Cream Sandwitch anymore.

The Toll House Ice Cream Sandwich removal was for health reasons? Then why can you still get a humungaloid custom-made ice cream cookie sandwich at the Main Street Bakery? (Not that I'm complaining, LOL, but it was enough for two of us to share and then some!) :slurp:

The buns were good last week, no problems.
As far as Caseys being know for beef. That was news to me. I just know Caseys for hot dogs:) and no seating. We ate there Tuesday nights during MVMCP while it was raining.

They could not make the Toll House Sandwitch Trans-Fat Free so it was removed.

The others may be loaded with fat, but it's not trans-fat so eat to your heart's content.

I have a power point somewhere outlining the WDW health plan. One of the slides says "Convert to all foods to trans-fat free" "Remove foods that cannot be converted (ex Toll House Cookie Ice Cream Sandwitch)"

So, thats the story.

I'll dig it up, or a link to it if possible, Not sure how to post a power point on these forums.

Bingo !

Are or were the hotdogs at Caseys really any different than that of Cosmic Ray's? Doesn't taste any different to me.

No, the hot dogs at Casey's are not different. Casey's hot dogs are 100% beef and has Kosher food made to order along with Cosmic Ray's I believe. Glatt Kosher and Star-K certified.

I haven't tried Casey's yet. Always thought - why would I go all the way to WDW to get hot dogs when there's so much other great food there... but I hear it's REALLY good. So we're gonna try it when we're down there in a couple weeks.

I was there two weeks ago, and decided against eating there because I had also read that they went with Chicken/Beef dogs. There wasn't a big crowd any of the three times I passed there. Maybe they did change.
