Bugs Land is made up of 2 well Disney says 3 areas, ITTBAB, Flicks Fun Fair, and Bountiful Valley Farms. The Bountiful Valley Farms area includes, the bug gardens, a water play area, P.T Fleas(pin shop which will be moved to Paradise Gardens) Farmers Market(quick service), a fruit stand and a few other small eateries.
So what is being demolished.

Cars Land looks great. Can't wait for Radiator Springs Racers.

So what is being demolished.

The southern half of Bountiful Valley Farm goes away.

The Tough To Be A Bug Show and the marquee and entry path to Flik's Fun Fair stays, and the entry path past the Bugs show becomes the northern perimeter of Mater's Junkyard Jamboree.

What goes away is the water play area, the small covered stage and the Farmers Market fast food counter along the southern wall, the Sam Andreas Shakes shake stand, and the pathway that links those three areas that had some planters and farm displays. When DCA opened in 2001 that area had Caterpillar tractors on display and some State Fair-ish displays about California agriculture, along with two fiberglass cows, but those things were removed years ago when Caterpillar pulled its sponsorship and the Bugs theme took over.

These original 2001 DCA facilities all go behind construction walls and get bulldozed in a couple weeks...

Here's another look at the rockwork, this time from inside the construction zone! It was posted on MiceChat by Flik but I don't know how he obtained it or what the original source is..

RSR.jpg

That's an interesting pic! I'm trying to figure out where exactly we are looking based on the overall ride track.

I'm thinking the new picture is that first big banked curve after you come racing out of the show building? And the photo was taken on the southeast edge of the site, looking west?

I see thanks! But where did you get that layout pic from? Can you give me a link I would like to see all of it.

It's a widely used screen shot from the video currently playing in the Blue Sky Cellar. People have been using it to trace out the track and various elements to the ride, and overlay it on the DCA property, like so...

That paritcular version came from Visions Fantastic website, but there are dozens of other sites and people using it online. Or you could YouTube the Blue Sky Cellar video playing this summer and see the image in its proper context in the video.

As TP2000 said, A Bug's Land will be staying along with Flik's Fun Fair and It's Tough To Be A Bug. Basically, everything to the right of the Bug's Land main entrance will be removed (the area I highlighted in blue).

Correct, it looks like the picture was taken looking West (it would be located between the 7 and the 3 in the diagram above). Directly behind that rockwall is the parade building.

Yesterday the LATimes.com posted a scene-by-scene preview of Radiator Springs Racers - includes details about the queue through Stanley's Oasis and Tap n Cap, and also states that the loading station will be housed inside a cavern

What’s better than an E Ticket ride? How about an F Ticket?

Radiator Springs Racers promises to redefine our expectations of an E Ticket attraction by combining a classic dark ride with a thrilling head-to-head drag race.

Currently under construction at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, the $200-million ride, scheduled to make its debut in 2012, will take passengers on a four-minute journey through stalactite caverns, around hairpin turns and along high-speed straightaways. Each side-by-side race ends with a randomly selected winner.

An F Ticket, huh?

I worry about that kind of hyperbole. From the looks of it, Radiator Springs Racers is going to be a fantastic ride and truly an E Ticket in the grand tradition of previous E Tickets like Pirates, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, etc.

But an F Ticket? Seems a bit much to me.

Al Lutz used a similar description back in 2008, except he referred to it as a Super E-Ticket...

This one is being referred to as a "Super E Ticket" by folks internally, as the scale of the show scenes and the scope of the entire facility approaches or surpasses some of the biggest and grandest E Ticket attractions that Disney has done anywhere in the world. The budget on this one ride is just as impressive as the towering red cliffs that will camouflage the huge show building, as the price tag attached to the ride has recently crept above the 300 Million mark. Yes, you read that right, 300 Million dollars for this one ride alone.

Needless to say, Radiator Springs Racers is going to be impressive, and the type of huge new ride that only Disney Imagineers with a big budget and full executive support could create. More importantly, it's shaping up to be the type of mega-ride that people plan vacations for. The long and winding indoor/outdoor track layout has been decided on now, but the final decisions on the exact sequence of the show scenes still hasn't had buyoff from John Lasseter and Bob Iger. That executive blessing should be wrapped up before Easter, although Lasseter will continue to be closely involved with this big budget project right until the Cars Land opening day in early 2012.

A big chunk of original 2001 DCA gets walled off and bulldozed a week from Tuesday.

I sure hope people are out taking some last photos of the Bountiful Valley Farm area so we can remember what it looked like two years from now when Mater's Junkyard Jamboree and the Cozy Cone Motel opens in that space. There aren't a lot of photos of that part of DCA out there currently (it's kind of a boring and rather pointless corner of the park), and it will be important to remember how the park evolved.

A generation from now when kids are waiting in line for Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, when we try and tell them there used to be plastic cows and a gardening shop on this site, they won't believe us without photographic proof!

Insider67 (how's that for a subtle username?) over on MiceChat posted that the backside of the rockwork (Pier-side) would have some sort of arch rock formation. Previously Al Lutz posted that the rockwork would previously receive the Expedition Everest (or rather the "let's theme the part that most guests will see and leave the rest of it painted some sort of neutral color so it's not that obvious we didn't finish it" treatment.) This surprised me because considering the amount of planning and capital they're pouring into making this a theme park worthy of carrying the Disney name and they're leaving an entire stretch of facade unthemed. Let's wait and see what happens.

Carsland has now moved into DCA(well kinda walls now surround Bountiful Valley Farm, which will become Mator's Junkyard Jamboree as well as the main entrance to Carsland) It looks like well have to wait another day or so till the wall decorations are added. DCA is defiantly the place for expansion walls, while DL is the place for refurbishment walls.

The new Cars Land construction walls are themed to Radiator Springs postcards (note the $3.95 price tag from the Radiator Springs Curious shop :D)

My goodness!

Things have certainly gotten a lot more exciting around DCA this week! Walls now up for Cars Land, Paradise Garden, Maliboomer Park, Sun Plaza, etc.

And they've really taken the concept of a construction wall to a whole new level with this DCA project. Bravo to TDA for making these walls so snazzy and exciting.

I just went through the park today and it is overwhelming with the walls!

The Carsland walls extend over the pathway to Bugs Land making it a real big bottleneck.

Then it's straight walls from Mailboomer to pathway by Grizzly (aside from Mulholland - but it will be walls soon).

Anyone know what the area being replaced by Maliboomer will look like? Will it just be a garden or an extended seating area for Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta?

No, they haven't said anything about what it will look like.. save for the description on the walls that call it a "lush new park". I doubt it will be an extension of the new seating area - it's not exactly close to the restaurants and I think it would be an odd location for that. I'm expecting a garden of some kind, maybe even a meet and greet for characters, who knows..

It's a good amount of space, not big by any means, but they have plenty of room to add something that'll give the boardwalk some extra atmosphere and landscaping.

*disclaimer* I didn't read all 8 pages of this thread.

My son wants to spend his birthday (early August) 2012 at DL specifically so he can go to Carsland. Will it be open by then? Thanks.
