The could build a replica death star if they really wanted to.

Let's say we want to do this and I assume you want this tunnel to be ADA compliant?

  • What is the level difference between TBA and the bottom of the river? 6'? 8'?
  • What is the thickness of the ceiling of your tunnel going under a river? 2'? (I have no idea how thick the concrete is for ROA and or what utilities are under it if any)
  • What is the height of the tunnel? 8'?
So to go from TBA and down below the tunnel we need to go maybe 16'? An ADA compliant ramp is a max of 30" rise per run. So we would need 6 runs where you are allowed 1 foot of elevation change per 12 foot of linear distance. A single 30" rise would need to be 30' long. In order to get down you would need 180' ramp not including landing space etc.

The distance between TBA area and the island is around 150' depending on where you measure.

So we just got down, but we didn't even get back up yet.

I guess we can build an elevator shaft with some switch back stairs that's 2-3 stories tall going straight down somewhere. I wouldn't want to have to design the drainage system for this tunnel.

Maybe it's late and I didn't do my math right.

Oh wait, the island itself isn't ADA compliant anyway so who cares.
Surprised Lazyboy didn't correct this but every 30 foot of ramp will need a five foot resting platform so your ramp will be at least 20 feet longer. Does not matter as a ramp is not what is needed to get guests under the water just put them in a lay down vehicle and shoot them over to the other side. Make it a ride and you can sell LLs for it.

I mentioned landing space for each run. But I didn't call out a distance.

Yet, he can't tell the difference between test footage testing terrain and what the actual ride will look like? I can't believe the amount of people that see that footage and believe Disney are going to build a barren dirt track in the middle of Frontierland when that is obviously not what's going to happen
I think when he says “dirt track” he’s just referring to the project as a whole. He’s saying he prefers the rivers over a ride. At least that’s what I’m getting from this one tweet.

I still wish there was a way to keep some of the water but I am still excited for this to come. Hopeful it will be awesome.
Yes there was ways to keep some of the water but Disney did not want to do that.

It is Disney’s intent to erase RoA, TSI and the riverboat.

In time, Frontierland, Liberty square, HoP will be erased; destroyed and replaced.

I thought those replacements weren't happening since we're not getting regular updates?

It will not be barren. It will have plenty of greenery and dramatic lighting like Tiana Bayou Adventure.

Think of it as if they carved a dirt track into Tiana Bayou Adventure.

Like Tiana’s, when Cars is down, it’s gonna look nice from a distance. 😉

“Modeling” isn’t a phase of design and there are elements in the parks where very late documentation was based on models. But yes, the wonder table was quite far along.

Since when is modeling not a design phase…?!?!?!
I was in architecture for 42+ years, modeling was definitely a design phase, and we got paid accordingly, as per our firms contracts.
Whether it was hand-built models back in the day, or, more recently, SketchUp, Lumion, Revit modeling, etc.
clients could opt out, but the vast majority were willing to pay nicely to be flown around and through their homes, office buildings, etc. before ground was even broken.
Also, and even more importantly, it gave us designers the opportunity to identify problems with all aspects of the design, including positioning of the structure on the site regarding things like topography, drainage, etc., as well as lines of site, scale, proportion, etc.
Again, from my 42+ years of experience in architecture, your claim that modeling isn’t a phase of design is just, patently, false.
Plus, the renderings from those models gave clients nice framed representations to put on their game room, man cave, etc., walls…!!! ;)

I don’t even know how to respond to this. Where did this modeling phase occur between SD, DD and CD? And are you telling me you somehow opted out of modeling in Revit for certain phases?

Also maybe tell the AIA

Or Disney

Can you believe this? We’re all talking about the removal of ROA from WDW like it’s not some crazy idea that will ruin the park forever for a cars ride and a nice entrance to Villains land.

So stupid.
