MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I've only been a local for a few years: it's mindboggling to me how in such a short time they've completely ruined Frontierland/announced their intention to completely ruin Frontierland.

It was a great place just a bit over 2 years ago. Now it's going to just have Big Thunder alongside a Splash downgrade and a Country Bears downgrade in an overall uglier atmosphere.

Glad I got to see it before this crap, at least.

I don’t think the concept at its core is all that bad. Sure, it sucks to lose ROA, but a grizzly peak-esque Pacific Northwest vibes area is, to me, the perfect replacement to ROA and could be great. Heck, the rally race idea sounds like it could be fun too! think people are just hung up that it’s CARS. While I’m not as staunchly opposed to it as some, it is kinda iffy to stick cars in MK, but I think it could still be fun. Just the IP has people hung up. I have an idea for an IP that could get people somewhat behind this attraction concept. Remember that old “country bear 500” attraction that was pitched for DL? Now use that theme, but put it in the current cars ride concept, racing around grizzly peak. Hear me out….

I find it funny in terms of clones people complain for Disneyland and Disney World however Universal makes sure each resort each coast has a form of the same land and nobody is complaining with them!
People never have the same standard for Disney vs Universal simply because they are upset with Disney and want Universal to take them down a peg. It makes half of these arguments incredibly shaky and in bad faith imo but I won't get on that soap box just yet.

I don't care about clones, I don't see myself going to China or Japan. If I'm in Paris it's probably not for DL but when I visit it won't be for getting on a bunch of rides.

It's a pretty good chance that I'll only experience rides at WDW for at least the next 15 years until all my kids are grown.

I like to think this and a Country Bear-themed Splash Mountain exists in some mirrorverse version of Frontierland on a different variant of Earth. Our Earth's Magic Kingdom unfortunately got stuck with Tiana and Cars.

I think a really good Frontierland would be country bear 500 and a Tiana designed for Florida, where scenes aren’t replaced by NOTHING. Tiana could’ve been good in wdw.

But the bears def could be put in any of them. Would be good future proofing if we ever lost the jamboree.

I'm still not happy about this but I've just accepted it and I'm interested to see what they do here. I really hope they have some great Imgineers on this and it turns out great.

That is sort of where I am ... this is definitely not the choice I would make but also know there are a lot of factors that go into decision making and if this is where they landed then I just hope the absolutely nail the landing and it is a great land with a great attraction(s), tons of water elements and kinetic energy, etc

Has anyone dug into the permit for this and how much reshaping the land in MK is allowed?
The permit doesn't really limit how much they can fill in the area, it just specifies the minimum elevation they're planning to bring RoA area to to satisfy stormwater drainage requirements. Right now, the existing perimeter of RoA and surrounding areas is anywhere between 98' and 100', and the basin of RoA is approx 93-95ish. The permit states they'll bring the entirety of RoA to a minimum of 98.75.

The actual construction civil drawings for Cars and Villains could include a ton of grading that provides lots of topology change to the final site design, but this permit at a minimum suggests they will bring all of RoA level with the rest of surrounding MK

Imagine looking at MK in 2019 and thinking Frontierland/Liberty Square is what needs fixing the most and not Tomorrowland.

Or finishing what they started in Fantasyland a decade prior.

Still can't get over how bad of a park Universal Orlando is. (as in the main park)

To me, it has like 1 great land, 1 okay land and then a whole lot of nothing. It's in such a state of disarray I pray we get something good after EU.
Universal Studios is a classic, but yeah not my favorite, looks too much the same throughout. Why I kind of prefer Hollywood Studios better only because it has more color!
