MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Small mercy is that it is on the edge of the park. Yes, you have to see the construction walls during construction, but at least the construction won't be in the dead centre of the park like it was at Epcot. Tropical Americas and Monstropolis will at least be in closed off areas too so again, it's just passing by the walls rather than having to go around them. I remember when New Fantasyland construction began in 2010. The walls were noticed but they didn't ruin my trip. I think it was only when New Fantasyland opened without Seven Dwarfs that the construxtion began to make a real impact and that shouldn't be the case with Cars & Villains unless the 2nd Cars ride opens after the main Cars
The most significant long-term impact will probably be to the train. There'll likely be a very long section of fences for at least half a decade. Rivers of America should only be blocked off for a couple years, and after that, the in-park walls should only be visible along the main path-to-be into Villains when approaching the new Cars attractions. That said, I have a feeling Tomorrowland's going to have some significant construction at some point over the next decade too.

When it comes to Tomorrowland, I think any significant addition will likely open after New Frontierland (Country Bears, TBA, Big Thunder Retrack and Cars attractions) is finished and Villains Land, unless they find something to replace Stitch and that will be mostly indoor construction. New Frontierland became their priority for MK as soon as Tron opened

Probably should put this to a poll but was curious, would people be more in favor of the Cars concept being scrapped if it meant giving Villains a larger presence?

Scraping it not to save ROI, but to give Villains land more attractions? Hypothetically, would that be the lesser of the two evils... if in contention.

I’m honestly pretty divided on one hand more villains definitely sounds like a good thing but it doesn’t really fit the vibe of the area either

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think the Cars Road Rally attraction could be really good... but I also like the idea of a bigger Villians Land... but I also think Cars makes a better transition from Frontier/Liberty to Villians...

Definitely depends how each would be implemented - I do think there is the potential for the Cars Land to look cool and add to the vibe if a true National Park feeling created - but that is no guarantee

Imas for Villains, if they just stuck Melificent's Castle right where TSI is now that wouldn't be great, but if they built I up more like a woods area that gradually gets creepier as you walk through it to get to the land proper then it could be really cool.

If it had to pick I guess I would say all Villains but for both it depends on execution

I would of kept Splash Mountain as is or for sake make it another IP and keep the Liberty Bell and have a proper Princess and The Frog Flume Attraction on TSI and ROA. The atmosphere would be kept and then a great transition from Swampy New Orleans to Villans. Cars would be moved to Hollywood Studios as it should been or let it replace The Speedway!

Seeing Journey of Water at night, I thought to myself maybe Disney can will able to pull off this Cars retransformation. However after another day at Magic Kingdom and standing and seeing River's of America and how not so large it actually is in person yet alone how close it is from other attractions Haunted Mansion, Tiana Bayou Adventure, I just don't see it victory!

Right. The ROA makes the area seem much larger than it really is. You lose the design intent of 1/4th of the park when the ROA gets replaced with a ring of trees with a Cars ride in the middle.

How fast do you all think we'll see the announcement of the closure date for TSI/ROA?

Probably still a while, I think this more just enables them to get working on the lay down yards and prep work that is more outside the berm but needed to enable the draining of the rivers ... But was something pending before that prep work could start

Well that sucks.

Current Disney couldn’t even make sure water stayed out of the brand new Madame Leota shop at Disneyland. I’m sure this will go well. Hey, at least the new Madame Leota store is beautiful and really blends in with the surrounding area.

To all you Orlandans, Floridians and people who grew up with MK / WDW as their home park. I’m sorry, this is pretty awful. Hopefully Villains Land is great.

I think it was kind of silly to imagine they'd cancel Cars Land when they obviously had a clear idea what they were going to do in their presentation, enough to show it off like they did. But here's the confirmation.

Anyone who was thinking otherwise was wishcasting. This is the first that has to happen as infrastructure before anything happens in the parks.

I assume they are moving fast with the BTM track work so they can get the crane out of the way or move those resources elsewhere. Then they'll go ahead and start bulldozing trees for lay down. Theyll have to bring in a lot of gravel.

Just a guess, once that's all completed and inspected they can start working on the the river. Since the RoA is part of this permit they can work on draining it and doing any other work.

Has anyone dug into the permit for this and how much reshaping the land in MK is allowed?

Very excited about the news. It will be interesting to see how long before the closures are announced. But been looking forward to this since it was announced and got nervous without much news on it recently.
